First, thank you thank you! for those who chimed in yesterday about Jimmy's dose approaching "higher" units and coaching me through it. Today at +4 am cycle we got the lowest number we've seen since early May. Yay! Will plan to hold 4.25 through the weekend and in to Monday - unless Jimmy shows me otherwise. I included the link from yesterday for test purposes to make sure I'm doing this correctly. Thanks again for your patience and wisdom!

Paws crossed for some action on this increase. Carrying over the conversation from yesterday, it does help to look at some other kitty's speadsheets, to see that what Jimmy's looks like is fairly common. In addition to Bubba, take a look at Rudy's SS, a sea of mostly pink and yellow, then he hit 5 units and the lightbulb turned on and the green and reductions started. Insulin is a hormone, not a drug. It's not uncommon for kitties to all of a sudden find their fitting dose. No matter what the size of the dose is, the protocol will get you there safely.

lol I've totally been stalking other SS including Rudy's! I heard from my vet - she only cautioned me about increasing too fast (not saying that I was, only to be cautious of that). I tend to be increasing after that 6 cycle - but perhaps may give this 4.25 7-8 cycles. So far so good today - down to 255 at +7. I tend to see him start to rise at +8 so we'll see what happens.

He also seems to really respond in the 2nd cycle, so being away from 5:30-11ish tonight will have me a little on edge, but I should be home around that +6 time frame. Thanks, again Wendy!

It totally depends what you see for nadirs. If he doesn't give you blues, I would still increase after 6 cycles. His blues have been highish blues on the previous dose so who knows what he's got planned. Cats can get glucose toxicity if they linger too long in higher numbers. TR is aggressive with increase, but the guidelines get you where you want to go safely.

Neko was all over the place. Just when I thought I had a pattern of when she'd respond, she'd change it.

I love that you've been stalking other SS. :) Looking at other cats spreadsheets and the posts for other cats, especially if you are new, really helps you get a feel for feline diabetes. And you'll see how cats are both similar yet different. :cat:
