Gobbles had quite a bit of exercise yesterday after dinner! I tied him up in the front yard while I watered all the flowers that DD and I planted. He was plumb happy to watch me and eat grass. After the watering, we took a long walk in the yard, stopped at his favorite tree and then went into the woods.

He's eating well, in fact, his appetite increased since the OTJ trial. Last night, at 11:30 p.m. (while I was enjoying falling asleep after taking all my meds--which I haven't done in months due to his FD) he started to whine real pathetically. I realized that that time of the evening is his usual PM+5 test, so I got up, gave him a mock test and fed him.

He woke me at 6:30, which is also a usual test time--tested and fed him. It is really something to be able to sleep through the night and finally take all my medicine--I feel so much better in the morning. I truly wish this for all sugar parents here at FDMB :mrgreen:

Is it common for a cat on OTJ Trial to have a better appetite? Before his Trial, he didn't seem to be eating enough....

I'm glad Gobbles is doing so well. Nice start to Day 3. :mrgreen: That's interesting about the appetite thing. I look forward to what others say about it. I hope Gobbles' ear and your eye are getting better.

Morning Kat, so glad you are now able to sleep better and take all your meds. So cute with Gobbles used to the routine. Mags had a brief remission, and she would jump onto her testing spot different times and wait to be tested. She got a treat instead. :-D In time Gobbles will adjust. I don't remember on the appy, but glad Gobbes is eating well.

WTG Gobbles! :RAHCAT And so happy that you are able to get a regular nights sleep ~ This FD can take a toll on it's bean's health if we are not careful.

Congratulations on OTJ trial day 3!

On the appetite increasing on the OTJ trial. Well, Wink had a good appetite one day and then his appetite slacked off on another day during his first OTJ trial. We're talking 11-12 ounces of food and then only 4-6 ounces of food. By the second OTJ trial, his appetite was more consistent, with him eating 6-8 ounces of food.

ECID, Every OTJ trial is different. ;-)

I love how routine-oriented our kitties are...and how they drive OUR routines :lol: ! I don't know about the appy, but Happy Day 3!!!

Hi Kat. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND GOBBLES ON DAY 3 OF HIS OTJ TRIAL. I imagine when a FD goes OTJ there is an adjustment to made made by the cat and the bean.

Great looking AMPS for not having insulin for two days. Go Gobbles we're rooting for you all the way.

Happy day 3! I don't remember about the appetite thing either. So cute how Gobbles wants to be tested. Glad you can get more sleep these days. Probably the lack of sleep is what causes your eye infection, getting run down. Hope both of you infections clear up soon..

Yay Day 3!!!

I'm glad you are trying the fake testing ... I am just AMAZED how much difference it made for Leo's comfort and love, my spoiled boy. (I have trouble mimicking the "BEEP" sound f the meter though! :lol: )

Speaking of food, for the first week of Leo's OTJ trial, he was RAVENOUS. I don't know why, but he finished every meal and licked most of the plates clean. He used to do that with meal #1 pretty often, but never all 3 meals a cycle. Now he's down to more normal volumes, about 2-2.5 cans of FF a day.
