this seems to be what we do right now, get a low to mid range 50, which is awesome! buuuutttt it also means that we have to do this little dance each morning. which also includes him climbing up on the back of the office chair and trying to push one of us out of it until he gets fed. or knocking over his lancets until he gets fed. or picking up his meter in his mouth and carrying it around and hiding it until he gets fed.

It looks like you shot in the 50s last night and the night before. If you're going to be home, have strips and HC, are you OK with shooting your new, 0.25u dose?

ETA: What a smart boy!! I love that he hides the meter.

we decided to go ahead and shoot- the bf will be here to have a test-a-thon today, with frequent call ins from yours truly.

he is waaay too smart. i knew i was in trouble with him shortly after i got him, chicago had a heat snap and i was gone for a weekend. he kicked open my freezer to cool off. i came home to find him camped out on top of my freezer, purring, and the whole thing defrosted, while the freezer fan was pumping out cold air at a crazy rate. i had to put baby locks on the freezer when i saw him trying to do it again later that week.

OMG!! The Frenchman is a VERY smart kitty. That gave me a wonderful giggle. (I'm not bringing either of my cats over to visit. I have no doubt that D'Artagnan will coach them on how to get into even more trouble!!)

Great numbers for D'Artagnan today! I would be a nervous wreck, of course we rarely break 100. You sound like you are well prepared and handling it great!

apparently he has now taken to grazing his second post shot meal.

either that or he knows that i'll say, oh, mid range 40s, just put a 1/2 tsp of hc in there and mix it around to encourage him to eat, and he's holding out for that.

he's been known to train us like that.


If any of your cats ever want to learn how to open a dishwasher, pull hats out of closets, open up pantry doors (the ones from the 60's that have the push locks- he head butts them to unlatch the push lock after he figured out hooking them open wouldn’t work), hide meters, hide phones (he sits on top of my bb when he is upset with me or wants attention, alternatively he knocks it on the floor and shoves it under the table) figure out how mac book video cameras work (we have video of this), learn the secrets of laser pointers (no fooling this cat, he gets it in a freaky way), or any other of his charming yet oh so way to smart for his own good behaviors- you know where to go. He also knows “sit” and “reach” either one of which he must do before dinner or a treat, “soft paw” is my crowning achievement- and his first learned command- he’ll retract his claws.

:lol: I thought my Siamese were too smart for their own good, but D'Artagnan takes the cake!

I wonder where he is going this cycle? Nadir could still be coming - keep testing in case he drops more. He might be wanting another reduction. :mrgreen:

The photo cracks me up! Our kitty sitter instructions are mostly about what he can open and get into and what is inclined to drag around the house or pull out of places you wouldn't expect, or what contraband he's likely to break into and how to prevent all of the above. It looks a little like instructions for taking care of a toddler.

I think he really really really really wanted to eat on time tonight and decided he was going to get a number I could shoot for his PMPS. None of this stalling nonsense.

These micro doses are really hard to measure. I've been staring at the micro dose pictures and staring at my shot, but man, it is hard. I couldn't even tell if I had a fur shot tonight. I imagine his +1 will be a helpful indicator to let me know.

aaaannnnddddd we're back! in the 40s. apparently he likes it here, and he's going to camp out here and possibly buy a summer home, right here in the mid 40s.

test again in an hour to make sure he doesn't drop.

Best to test in 30 min. when you have numbers in the 40s. I hope you gave a taste of gravy to bump up those numbers.

In the AM, you're new dose will be 0.1u. Take a look at the New to the Group sticky for a photo of the dose.

did the 30 test, 40.

he did get a little hc at his last meal but was only mildly interested.

i just gave him a little chicken instinct with hc. happy camper, chowing down.

.1 is going to take practice. we have the insulin in the pen to practice drawing with so we can just shoot the .1 into a paper towel.

Test again soon.

Sometimes practicing on something that's not absorbent is easier to gauge if the amount is the same. Try wax paper, plastic wrap, a plate, etc.

gave him a little bit more of hc mixed into the remainder of his dinner. he did finish the chicken instinct hc snack,and then had about half his dinner, which he usually grazes at.

i think the bf and i will have a little practice session tomorrow with a plate and the .1 to make sure we are consistent with each other. we use walgreens syringes which have this optical illusion at the top so it appears there is a lozenge of air, even when there isn't, it's just the way the plastic is shaped.

i've got a syringe with orange juice in it to help me be consistent in this oddball dose i've got going on. not sure if that would be helpful at such a tiny dose, though. but you could practice with it and be able to see it.

you can tell D'artagnan we've voted and decided he is gifted. :cool:
 
stayed up late to grab his +6 and make sure food kicked in. he seems to have a nadir between 6-8 these days but i can't do two more hours and there is still a bit o food in the bowl.

and there will be no telling the cat he is gifted, the last thing i need is for him to develop a napoleon complex and attempt to take over the entire condo. can you imagine what havoc he would bring down upon the world if he could learn to operate door knobs?! utter chaos i tell you ;)
