Crystal's AMPS was 220 so I took Julie's advice (yesterday's condo) and increased the R, giving her 3.0u this morning. Her +7 and +9 were both 214 so I think this is her nadir, will test her at +10 and if she's going up, then I'll give try to catch the rise.

Cold outside, have just turned the heating back on indoors, cats don't want to go out, but they are bored, the whacking will start soon no doubt. Just about to bone and mince 2kg of raw chicken for Crystal, I hate that job, wish I could find a raw cat food manufacturer here, but I think they are rarer than hen's teeth. Better make a start or she will have no dinner.

Hi Suki,
Those are better numbers for Crystal today. She is almost into the blue. You are becoming an old pro with the R.

I am still up (it is midnight here in Sydney). Sheba and I are having a pyjama party.
I made a couple of kgm chicken for Sheba today as well. I cook hers though as raw chicken makes her sick, but she eats raw kangaroo and other meats. I debone after cooking and weigh it out into portion sizes and freeze. It isn't a fun job, I agree but it has to be done. She is so much better in lots of ways since going onto home prepared food.
I also make my own egg shell powder instead of using bone meal.

Will watch with interest to see what happens at +10 and if you give more R

sunny yellows.... paws crossed for a blue descent.

I'm betting the raw you make is much better than the pkged stuff...
Shadow always is far more interested in a raw chicken I 'm cutting up.... guess the freshness really makes a difference. ( or maybe the lack
of additives)

A flat yellow cycle...that might be a heads up for some action tonight! Suki, might want to put some coffee on! :)

But flat yellow also means she didn't head up into the pinks! So...the silver lining is there!

Hi Suzanne, thanks for answering. Crystal is dropping, albeit slowly, +10 was 203 and +11 was 185 (just taken). What do you think I should do at PMPS regards R dose?

If she is above 175 at PMPS, I would go ahead with either 1.5uR or 2uR dose. She's dropping, but within that +/- 20% so she's more flat than dropping.

What are you thinking? What are you comfortable with? What's your night look like in terms of monitoring and a PJ party, if necessary?

Thanks Suzanne, I was planning on giving her R, perhaps 2.0u as I did on 5/13 as she is about the same figure, just thought I would get your thoughts while you were around. I never know if I should shoot R if she is still coming down? I'm comfortable doing that and I'm okay for a late (ish) night, no problem, would really like to crack this yellow log jam. What if she is below 175 though? no R?

This is the area where I don't have enough experience, I'm okay with the 200-400 levels but get a bit cautious under 200. Left to my own devices I would probably have given 2.0 at 185 but obviously I don't want her in any danger but at the same time I want to maintain the momentum. I think between 150-175 I might try 1.5 and watch her closely. okay? or am I being too aggressive with the dose?

You know she is insulin resistant. We suspect IAA. With IAA, you HAVE to be aggressive with the dose. But you're doing it very safely and monitoring her.

I would be comfortable giving 1.5uR above 150, especially if she is closer to 175.

PMPS is in, what, 30 minutes?

Roughly although I actually test in about 10 minutes, feed then shoot in about 20/25 minutes from now, so just before the hour. 1.5u then if under 175, 2.0 if over. Thanks a heap Suzanne, always good to have an experienced eye on proceedings, I really appreciate it.

All done, now we wait..... Paws crossed.

Bron, sorry to hear you are having a PJ party, hope it's not too long a night. Kangaroo, that's a bit more exotic than the chicken that Crystal gets, she was a bit fed up with it tonight, so had to add a prawn to get her interest.

Hi Rhiannon, thanks for looking in. I switched her to raw when she was dx with acro, I buy a packet mix with all the necessary supplements from Germany, very good quality.
Would like to be able to give raw to all four but just too time consuming, and expensive!

Keep on keeping blue tonight Crystal! Good luck with the new R scale.

I switched Neko to raw when she was Dx with diabetes, but fortunately have several good raw manufacturers here. There are pet stores that sell just raw and some of the butchers also sell their own product, including one that specializes in exotic meats. Water buffalo anyone? Neko had kangaroo this morning (a house favorite), but tonight it's chicken. I rotate that with venison and turkey at the moment. And I can also by premix to add to ground raw - Mariko was adding premix to elk for her civie. I think they eat better quality meat than we do.;)

I buy about 6 packs of chicken tighes a week, from the same supermarket, they must think we survive only on chicken every day, I daren't tell them its for the animals. The dog also has chicken, but cooked, and also raw mince, they certainly eat well in our house I should really try to vary her diet a bit more, but never seen water buffalo here, for us or them! Lots of expectant faces watching us eat dinner tonight, we had fresh fish, so Crystal got about a tablespoon saved for her, which she loved.

Recap on Crystal's BG so far:
PMPS 178  gave 1.5uR (thanks again Suzanne for your guidance)
+1 198:cool:
+3 180:cool:

Great to see some blue numbers for a change. bbl

love seeing that blue! good job handling things today, Suki!

As I was reading today's thread I was thinking of all the kids in the US, at least, that get only prepackaged food . . . I see kid lunches that have nothing "real" in them: those orange cheese/pb crackers, Capri Sun fruit-tasting drinks & chips. You wonder how kids can grow on food like that. these kitties are lucky!

I agree Julie, it's quite frightening the junk the kids eat today, as the saying goes, "you are what you eat"...... little wonder there are so many dysfunctional families around, unfortunately the English are no exception. The French have the right idea about having a "proper" lunch, it's sacrosanct and frequently a 2 hour break when everywhere closes and people dash home for a home cooked meal. I've got French girlfriends who simply have to be home at midday to provide a cooked meal for their husbands - mine has to fend for himself if I'm out!

True confession time. I just had elk sausage at lunch time. No leftovers for Neko.

Loving these flat blues.:cool::cool:

OMG elk sausage, shame on you Wendy, especially for not saving Neko a morsel. I've seen donkey sausage here, but as a horse lover, that's one step too far for me.

Just done Crystal's bedtime test (1.50 pm, very tired now) and she is still nice and flat at 187 so I'm off to bed, only 4 hours until AMPS. Night night all.

That is so true. I sometimes look in other supermarket trolleys while I am waiting at the checkout and can't believe the rubbish some people buy. It just is not real food.
Schools here in Australia are not supposed to sell any rubbish in their canteens.
None of my grandchildren are allowed rubbish except as a treat and they accept that readily and understand the difference between everyday food and occasional food. My daughter cut out all sugars, additives etc from her son's diet and the difference was quite amazing. His behaviour improved dramatically and he went from having constant ear infections to not having any sickness at all in the 9 or 10 months that he has been eating properly. He didn't eat badly before, just ate more sugar than people should. He is allowed a small treat each day which might be an ice cream or a biscuit etc. and he is quite happy with that arrangement.
Our kitties are lucky.....they do very well

Lovely to see the blue numbers Suki

I think you may have left you finger hovering, then it sort of cuts and pastes all in one go, very odd, happened to me recently.Glad you looked in anyway on our cultural food discussion.

I am using the iPad and it had a mind of its own. It is almost as bad as my iPhone.
I recently sent an email to a good friend via my iPhone and as I reread it, I noticed it said I was in hospital and even named a ward!!! I tried to fix it but it went off to her. I sent another one after trying to find out how it all happened, but in the meantime she thought I was in hospital.....and I have no idea how it all happened. Technology is great...but you have to watch it!!

hahahaha that's so funy, Bron. I think your comments somehow ended up inside the quotation.

A friend's daughter was the pickiest eater ever - she would only eat white food until she was in her teens. Literally white food. She ate bread with butter, noodles with butter, rice with butter. I tried to give her fresh blueberries and strawberries when i was keeping her for a day and she refused. The good news is she's now 28 and working on a Ph.D. in Australia. I've always been amazed that her brain didn't suffer from her terrible diet, but I guess it's a testimony to how the human body can make do.

Oh dear Bron, that's so funny. I think it's the automatic spellchecker that's at fault, my tablet too comes up with some crazy suggestions and seems intent on inserting them, really does have a mind of its own.

Well that four hours sleep flew by, one minute I was off to bed, the next thing the alarm was going off. Woke up to find Crystal snuggled in between us and she didn't even want to come down for her breakfast, can't say as I blame her, think I'll go back for an hour or so.

So a good start for her this morning, looks like that little tweak to the R scale is working - for the time being (antijinx).

Thanks for visiting everyone, catch up later.
