So now I'm about 99% sure she did have herself a nice little kibble raid yesterday morning. First clue was last evenings PMBG, but also, about 10:00 last night, she came marching into the family room on a mission...I could tell by the look in her eye that she had hopes of finding 3 unguarded kibble bowls again :lol: ! No such luck...the bean was a little wiser last evening, Trix! She ate a little mush and then gave out some snuggles :-D .

I was a little worried last night, as her appy seemed a bit off. Turned out she was just sick of chicken, because when I opened a can of turkey, she went to town. She has eaten VERY well this morning.

And, I have seen more evidence of her sneaking snacks (off her own plate) when I'm not looking. At one point during the wee hours of the morning, I had to get up for Frankie (yep, she's still scratching at the door). Trix was snoozing on her rocker with a small plop of food nearby. I was with Frankie for maybe 10 minutes, and when I went back up to bed, Trix was jumping back up to her rocker and the food was gone :cool: .

She also ate her first round of breffis very well without MamaBean holding the plate. So hopefully we are making the transition back to "independent eating".

So her baby steps continue!

One more day of work and then I am finally off again. I've been peeking in on condos when I can, but hopefully between tonight and tomorrow I can really catch up again.

Ahhhhh.... the kibble raids.... amazing how popular they are. Mannie loved his too. I finally just threw it out all together, and he was such a master at finding the smallest tiniest remnant. the others forgave me in time. :lol:

it's good to read that the appy is back, and she really is eating on her own, with minimal encouragement. :cool: GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Trixie!

I soooooo wish I could get rid of the kibble, but it's just not possible. Looooooonnnnnng back story, but the gist is that my guys will literally starve themselves if I only feed them canned. I tried SO hard to switch them over years ago - they all truly refused to eat it, no matter what I offered, and they started losing LOTS of weight. It was a nightmare and was putting their health at risk more than eating kibble was. Add to that their digestive issues...believe it or not, the only thing that does not run straight through them is various Purina Hairball kibbles...something else I have tried everything (except meds like pred, which I want to avoid for obvious reasons) for, and for whatever reason (much to my "dismay"), this is what works best for them.

Fortunately Trix is willing to eat wet food, even though she would much rather have the kibble.....

I think the occasional stray piece of kibble won't hurt Trixie in the long run. You're pretty good about being vigilant, and it gives her something to think about! I, too, have some kibble around - Abyssinians are prone to dental issues, and the vet really wants them to have some Hill's TD every day. It's just a snack for them - their main source of nutrition is canned food. But they do love their TD! Cinco doesn't get into it at all because I keep it in the pantry and the door is almost always closed. Even when it's open, he doesn't realize it because he can't see it, and he's just not a nosy cat. There's also a dispenser on the plant shelf in our room, and only the Abys get up there. I love that Trixie is feeling well enough to be thinking about that again, and searching for it. She's come so far! :-D

I hope your day goes by quickly, Amy, and the kibble raid effects will have worn off by the time you get home.

It's so wonderful to stop in on your condo's lately and see Trixie feeling and acting more like Trixie!

Keep it up Trixie! You're baby steps are making your extended family here in LL very happy! :-D

A decent start to the evening...Trix had a pretty enthusiastic first round of din-din, plus I got some pre-dinner snuggles.

I remember "Trouble with Tribbles"...I was never a "Star Trek" fan, but being a girl who loved things that were furry and cute, I loved that episode so much that I even MADE tribbles :lol: !

Trix does track down a kibble here and there 'cause the civvies can be sloppy. I don't fight her on that...and I don't blame her for trying to catch MamaBean's slip-ups, either...
 
Great news on the independent appy coming back! :-D :-D Now if only she wouldn't be quite so enthusiastic about the kibbles. :roll: At least it shows she's interested in food.
