we need appy vines...
didn't want anything to do with her raw/and shrimp. then she didn't want the alternative....
not liking anything much today...
may have to give her a piece of ham.

guess I'll go get her an ondansetron... and then cyprohetadine.... see if we can prime the cat....

healing vines to beans and kitties...

I was in bed waiting for Shadow's next test time. And she came in and started yelling....
caterwallin'....
I normally can't hear.... my hearing has been knocked down pretty low with allergy season so far.....
but Shadow was very loud.
I got up, and turns out she had just used the litter box....
still formed... ( yay) but a bit thicker than usual....

I'm guessing that's a cry of pain while she goes.
I don't know how to help that.....

anyone else dealt with this?

Aw, poor Shadow. Sorry to hear she had a painful poo. Billie has had some straining incidents in the LB, and in those cases, eventually passed a thicker poo with lots of hair in it. One time she did make a noise like she was uncomfortable. I'm noticing that her constipation/hairball poos generally come with a poor appy. I'm thinking maybe if there is already inflammation from IBD, the hair irritates everything more. I just picked up fish oil and SEB which I'm hoping will help keep things moving.

If Shadow's poo was thicker than usual, maybe it just hurt coming out, but maybe it was a poo hairball? I know Shadow is fluffy like Billie so that's why I'm wondering if she has a similar issue. If you really want to play poo detective, you could poke around and see if there's hair...

I hope she feels better!

Skooter did the same thing and it ended up being constipation. It made him not eat a lot as well.

Not sure if you had said before that shadow got miralax on a regular basis already but may want to check with vet about doing that for a little bit.

Skooter's vet said he would be on it for good...once the enemas worked he went from 1/4 teaspoon twice a day to 1/8 teaspoon twice a day...

Are you sure she was hollering as she was going and not after? Cinco hollers after he goes - guess he wants to make sure I know about it. I'm not sure if he's saying, Look, Mama! I went poo! or Mama! Come clean up this stinky stuff!

I can relate to the frustration and stress of a crappy appy - I had three of them here today! I'm sure there isn't anything I could suggest that you haven't tried (boiled chicken, deli turkey, baby food), but don't be afraid to try something a second time - after some time passes, things may change. Food that my kitties rejected earlier was eventually eaten.

Sending lots of appy vines, and some good poo vines, just in case. A few of these :bighug:, too.
