Evening...

Today was Albuquerque day... haircuts... shopping... lunch with DH's dad and wife...
and too much car time....
taking just half a pain pill at a time now.... which seems to be much better than a whole one... just to take the edge off....( it's really just my teeth that are aching as the numbness
is trading itself out for feeling)
They said that was normal.
I"m getting there.

I think Shadow had a decent day but wasn't here to check on her. DD stayed behind today since she had to work. She found a neighbor with MS who hires high school girls
to "babysit" .... so her husband can get out and do other things ( or not)
She turns pages on books, and feeds her and pretty much whatever else she needs for 4 hours on saturdays and sundays at $10/hr ... probably for the next year.
My dd can do homework or read herself while there so it's a really good job for her and she has the temperament for it. ( as she isn't the typical high schooler)

Shadow has been definitely surprising me with these lower numbers.... which is very very good.

Woohoo, Shadow!!!   Maybe Shadow was feeling a little of your stress about the surgery? She'll never tell.  I'm glad you're making progress, Rhiannon. Every teenager should have a job caring for someone who is disabled. It would give them a better perspective on the world. :-D

That's true.
My daughter has a better perspective for a lot of things over most teenagers.
She and I both used to help an elderly neighbor with some tasks that were difficult and this neighbor was surly and testy.
When she had a stroke and wanted to come back home, I offered to work for her and she eagerly wanted me over home instead .....
It was the only way her son was going to let her come back to her house was to have some help around daily.
Unfortunately she didn't use me very well to do things for her..she'd send me home ( across the street) .. and she didn't live long after the 2nd stroke.

My dd, her boyfriend, and I are putting up a flyer for the summer at the competitor vet's office ( has a bulletin board) for pet sitting/ house sitting.
I can do shots.... the bf can do shots and our little town has a lot of folks who travel in the summer.

I think it's hard for most folks to have someone come in to help with stuff, even though the kids think it's a great idea. Good luck with the petsitting business. I've always thought that would be a nice business, lots of flexibility and fun to do. Melissa said she found a great petsitter using care.com.
