Good Morning, Everyone,
We send our heartfelt sympathy to Kathy, who bid a loving farewell to Kitty last night. Fly free, Kitty, you are much loved.
It is a beautiful, sunny, cool Adirondack morning. I just got in from being outside with Rusty for about an hour. He was having such a nice time poking around in the trees, smelling everything with his Jacobson's organ. Before we went outside I spent a half hour fixing the kitchen sink faucet (unlike any I've ever seen before: there were no rubber washers! but I got it to stop leaking). Last night Rusty slept between his beans and this morning I got an ear-lick as a wake-up (way too early; it was still dark outside). Rusty had eaten all of his nighttime food, but I don't know when--possibly just before we got up, since he wasn't too hungry for breakfast and is grazing. We had a good test and a good shot. While we were outside a male ruby-throated hummingbird flew right up to me and hovered about a foot in front of my face. It's the first hummingbird I've seen this year, so I made up some sugar-water and will put the feeders up this morning. That hummer may be one of the ones who spent last summer with us.
Today is a day of garden work. We are finally ready to mow the grass, but have to be careful not to disturb the forget-me-nots, which are everywhere (lots of other wildflowers in the "lawn", too). Tomorrow we are going to take some stuff down to Camp. Our friends down there (who do all our maintenance) have already put the water line into the lake and put out the dock. Rusty won't come with us tomorrow, since we won't be staying. We and our friends will go for a short paddle on Indian Lake. It will be great to see Camp again after the long winter months. If we didn't have so much extra stuff to take, we would take Rusty and spend a night or two.
Wishing you all a good day and a great Victoria Day Weekend to you Canadians! (I'm not sure if Monday is a holiday in Quebec, but have a good weekend anyway.)
