Good Morning, Everyone,

We send our heartfelt sympathy to Kathy, who bid a loving farewell to Kitty last night. Fly free, Kitty, you are much loved.

It is a beautiful, sunny, cool Adirondack morning. I just got in from being outside with Rusty for about an hour. He was having such a nice time poking around in the trees, smelling everything with his Jacobson's organ. Before we went outside I spent a half hour fixing the kitchen sink faucet (unlike any I've ever seen before: there were no rubber washers! but I got it to stop leaking). Last night Rusty slept between his beans and this morning I got an ear-lick as a wake-up (way too early; it was still dark outside). Rusty had eaten all of his nighttime food, but I don't know when--possibly just before we got up, since he wasn't too hungry for breakfast and is grazing. We had a good test and a good shot. While we were outside a male ruby-throated hummingbird flew right up to me and hovered about a foot in front of my face. It's the first hummingbird I've seen this year, so I made up some sugar-water and will put the feeders up this morning. That hummer may be one of the ones who spent last summer with us.

Today is a day of garden work. We are finally ready to mow the grass, but have to be careful not to disturb the forget-me-nots, which are everywhere (lots of other wildflowers in the "lawn", too). Tomorrow we are going to take some stuff down to Camp. Our friends down there (who do all our maintenance) have already put the water line into the lake and put out the dock. Rusty won't come with us tomorrow, since we won't be staying. We and our friends will go for a short paddle on Indian Lake. It will be great to see Camp again after the long winter months. If we didn't have so much extra stuff to take, we would take Rusty and spend a night or two.

Wishing you all a good day and a great Victoria Day Weekend to you Canadians! (I'm not sure if Monday is a holiday in Quebec, but have a good weekend anyway.)

Morning Ella, nice blue for Rusty's start of the day, and I bet he has greens coming up soon, too. So nice that Rusty got out for an hour in the fresh air. That's great that you can do some of your own plumbing/fix ups around the house! I did hear that coffee is good for us on the news, and that is good news for me as Ive been drinking it since I was a little kid! Neat with the little hummingbird and feeder. Sounds like a nice day working in the garden. Have a wonderful day.

Rusty, see ya later for paddling and a picnic, niptunis, too, Mags

Re: 5/18 Rusty AMPS 106

Oh my goodness Ella, you avoid the forget-me-nots too? I leave all the ones around the edge of the 'yard'.
I need a break from yard work today. I forget how out of shape I am, and was out trimming huge pine branches yesterday, that are overhanging my redbud. Yikes, my wrists are feeling it today.
I need to get out for FF on sale today anyway.

I wonder if Rusty is gonna let you get anything done today. He's gonna be begging to go to the lagoon. What a morning ps. :-D

Yay, cookout time is almost here, at Camp Stu. WooHoo!!! flip_cat

Nice AMPS, I think the Lagoon Master is headed back to work! :-D :-D

Have a good time at Camp. Even if it is work, it is always good to get back to our favorite places.

Re: 5/18 Rusty AMPS 106

Hi Ella,

Things are sounding idyllic down there, with hummingbirds and forget-me-nots in the yard. I am glad that Rusty got to enjoy some flehmening. We are headed into a sunny and warm Victoria Day, a.k.a. "May two-four" weekend here. I hope you have a good trip to Camp Stu.

Victoria Day is a holiday in Quebec, but they call it something else.

I like your story about the hummingbirds. I put my feeders up the last half of March, and the cats love watching the action. My DD has multiple feeders and it's amazing how friendly some will get. Especially if they think you are late refilling the feeder!

Rusty, looks like you are having a great day. Think green while momma is mowing the lawn.

Hi again,
Rusty is thinking green! This cycle today is like the cycles of old (before Pancreatitis). I am so :-D . Rusty had Wellness Turkey for breakfast and By Nature Turkey and Turkey Liver for lunch. He liked the By Nature better than the Wellness today.

We all had a good day with lots of time in the garden. We mowed. We put out the hummingbird feeders and now there is a war going on (they are very territorial). Rusty hunted squirrels. We sat in the sun and in the shade. It was hot in the sun. I went shopping in Lake Placid. We got stuff together to take to Camp Stu tomorrow. Rusty hopes that all the kitties will come visit him again tomorrow and hang out.
I'm baking ginger/cimmamum cookies tonight for our monthly chapter potluck on Sunday, so I'll make extra for the kitties. Or they can bake some more themselves.

bbl, got to get to those cookies!

Rusty is back

Much to my neighbours horror I also mow around the lawn flowers - so much prettier

Sounds like that hummingbird was telling you it is definitely time for the feeders, very cute :-D

This was a great day of numbers for Rusty. He enjoyed being back in the lagoon.

Never did get to the cookies; I faded! The kitties will have to do them tomorrow!

Ni ni everyone. Thanks for visiting us. Serryn: I'm glad you have a "natural lawn" too!

This was a perfect day for Rusty! It's great to see such a great day for him.

Glad you enjoyed some outside time with him and an ear lick this morning.
