Thank you for the visits and ideas on yesterday's condo!! I really am excited for the move :)

@Tricia & Cinco and @tiffmaxee thanks a lot for the pill gun, fish oil, and SEB recommendations! I am going to try all of those. I think I can get the SEB and the Nordic Naturals at the co-op here.

Question about pilling - what size gel caps do you use, and do they fit in the pill gun? Thank you!!

I am really thinking Billie's hairballs have a lot to do with her GI issues. Not that there isn't IBD or something going on as well, but I think the hair irritates things further. Now that I'm playing Poo Detective more often, I'm finding that her constipation/straining events are always followed by a very hairy poo and coincide with bad appy days. Back in the day when she ate dry food, she coughed up some big hairballs now and then. But she has only had one or two hairballs all year since we switched to wet food.

I wish Billie would eat pumpkin or squash, but for some reason, she won't touch it. Oh well. Her appy has been picky so far today, but she is eating. She ate most of a jar of baby food and some salmon cat food after I sprinkled parm on it.

Billie earned her own version of balls of steel this morning. Brooklyn pounced on her for no good reason, then ran away. Billie typically doesn't retaliate when that happens - she gets flustered and will jump up on the bed or bookshelf to get away. This time though, she went running across the room and pounced on Brooklyn!! There was a brief scuffle, followed by a staredown, and both cats went their separate ways. Go Billie!

I hope everyone is doing well. Sending vines to all the kitties and beans.

I use size 3 and 4. Both fit in the pill gun and are cat sized. Currently all I out in them is the BP med but ondansetron added works with both although I have to cut it up a bit more to fit in easily. The bigger the number the smaller the gelcap.

Thanks! I got the Nordic Naturals pet fish oil and the SEB. Billie likes the fish oil and will lick it up, but she was not at all interested in the SEB. I'll work on a trick for that one.

Well one down. I should see if Max likes it by itself. I put it in his food when I was giving it to him.

Deanna, I put the SEB in gelcaps. None of my cats like the taste. To get the recommended dose, I pack two #3 gelcaps pretty tightly. I have gotten to where I use gelcaps a lot, so I got a "machine" to help me fill them, but before that I used little tiny funnels that I bought on Amazon.

I use #3, #4 and #5 gelcaps. Yes, they all fit in the gun, although the #3 are a little big for it. The only place I've found the #5 (smallest size) is Thrivingpets.com. I get the others from Capsuline.com, which is where I got the filling "machine". I often put two different meds into one gelcap - like Pepcid and Ondansetron for Minka, and Pepcid and Prednisolone for Harvey. It means one less time you have to shoot something down their throat, there is no taste, and it protects the pill from starting to dissolve too soon.

It sounds like Billie has decided it's time to stand up for herself. You go, Billie!
