More teeny tiny baby steps...this morning, Trix ate a good portion of her "first breffis" on the floor with "the commoners" rather than lounging on the ottoman after her ear poke! Last night, she absolutely inhaled her second dinner. Fingers and paws crossed these bitty steps mean we're moving closer towards the return of "normal" eating habits. It's funny how these teeny tiny traits mean so much when a kitty is recovering from being sick!
Of course I just slipped up and she MAY have had a small kibble raid ohmygod_smile  ...but I don't know for sure. I usually can hear her coming down the stairs (she has a distinct sound to her step), but I had stepped into another room for a minute. When I came back, she was downstairs in the living room, and there were kibble bowls on the floor in the family room (with the kitchen in between the two rooms). I don't know if she made it all the way back to those bowls or not. UGH! We got sloppy and lazy with the kibble bowls with her spending so much time upstairs, but she is definitely feeling good so we can't do that any longer.
Someone (Tricia?) asked last night if I had tried a pill popper yet. I haven't...and I'm honestly not sure if I'm comfortable with giving it a go. I like to "feel" where the pill is...I'm really afraid of jabbing her or gagging her or something like that because I won't have that "tactile ability" with a pill popper. We're both getting better with the pilling...I just need to keep working on refining my technique, just like I did with doing shots. I do slather it up with (vegan) butter so it's super slippery, and I do follow up with a little bit of water (although she does get impatient with that). And, to her credit, she does NOT run away or fight me when I don't get the pill down on the first try. She knows I'm going to try again, and I think she knows I'm trying to help her but just need to get better at it. She's very sweet.
I'd better get myself moving...DH is off at a swim clinic this morning, so since we're not having our usual "leisurely" (relative term!) bagel breffis today, I'm going to put in a quick workout before work again. Have a great day, LL!
