Hi Everyone,
I guess Rusty wanted to bounce. The AMPS had food behind it, so he may have been in the greens last night. Also, AMPS was an unintentional "short shot". Whatever. He was happy to see us when we got home and we spent a nice hour in the garden.

Our paddle didn't quite turn out as planned. It was much windier than predicted and we only did about half of what we wanted. We didn't want to lose any paddlers! It was a gorgeous day, however. The high was in the mid 50s with lots of sunshine. Lake Lila was named for Lila Vanderbuilt, the wife of one of the early 20th-century railroad barons, William Seward Webb. He built one of the Adirondack "Great Camps" for her--Camp Nahasane. When the state acquired the land about 20 years ago the camp was torn down (because the state forest preserve has a "forever wild" clause), but the spot where it stood has still not reverted entirely to "wild". Webb had a private railroad spur to take his household to Camp. The early 20th century in the Adirondacks was famous for the Great Camps built by the magnates of industry. Fascinating history. There are many wonderful campsites on this lake. It is my favorite Adirondack lake--no motorboats allowed (they couldn't get there in any event, since you have to portage to get to the lake).

Off to visit condos. Ann, we paddle solo canoes made locally by Placid Boatworks. http://www.placidboats.com/. We each have a "Spitfire" and we also own a "Rapidfire" and a "Shadow". These boats are fantastic--lightweight and very seaworthy.

It's early in the season - you need to build up too. Sounds like a wonderful day. Rusty, ok, you can have this little bounce but then back to bidness.

Hi Ella. I'm glad you had a nice day. I think Rusty knows his beans deserve a good sleep tonight, so he's accommodating. :-D

Hi all - the day sounds wonderful, even if you couldn't do all that you wanted. Just being out there sometimes is enough. I love the history - fascinating!

Sorry that Rusty went yellow... I hope he is back in Rusty numbers by the next cycle. It's only one pmps is a sea of thousands, so don't worry. He'll recover soon.

Rest well!
