happy boy this morning - breakfast consumed, shot suffered through, anya's plate cleaned up so we can all be in the Clean Plate Club.

i asked the vet yesterday about testing punkin for acro and IAA. he sent me an email at 11pm last night saying he'd just left the clinic and would talk to me today about it.

today is the dreaded wisdom teeth removal day - my daughter took a valium an hour ago and the appt is in 1 hour. she's taken atavan before and i'm hoping the valium is strong enough that we can at least get begun without too much trauma and/or drama.

Punkin is just so dutiful, making sure Anya keeps her spot in the Clean Plate Club!

It is so nice of Punkin to clean up after everyone. :lol: :lol: He is just watching out for you!

Good luck on the wisdom teeth! My son had his done when he was about 14 and it was a long day.

she's the last of my kids to get it done - my eldest had it done christmas break of her college freshman year, son had it done in high school, foster daughter had it done senior year in high school, but michelle put it off and here we are. i called the oral surgeon yesterday before we went in to reiterate she has dental phobias about the whole works and to be extra-gentle. he still had to go over the "might poke a hole in your brain" warnings, but i could tell he toned it down for her.

my eldest's was a horrible 4 days, but she had been tongue-tied and had that clipped at the same time - i think that was actually the worst part of hers. my son reacted to the hydrocodone and had some kind of long interval in his heart beat so i had to sit next to him for the entire day and listen to him breathe. plus he kept vomiting from the codeine. my foster daughter had it pretty easy, just local anesthetic. but michelle is getting the iv sedation and i just hope she sleeps all day. that would be the best case scenario.

we have to leave in about 5 minutes and she doesn't seem even remotely affected by the valium. ugh.

Sorry to hear your daughter is so nervous .. I was the same way .. and I will admit that my upper teeth shifted for three weeks after I had my last one removed .. I had to go back to the dentist for reassurance everything was going to be ok .. I could not chew even soft noodles they hurt so bad while shifting .. Now I'm back to 100% but I completely understand her fears .. Peter had to stay in the room with me while mine was pulled ...

Good morning, Punkin will probably be surfing yellow when you get home..anti-jinx That is a pretty low pink to start the day.. I'm glad to see that he want's everyone to be in the clean plate club.. I'm sure that was a chore for him to finish off Anya's breffis too :lol:
I sure wish you well with your daughters appt today. I can relate to your son and his experience with the codeine. I had surgery on my knee back in 2005 and the doctors told me to take one tablet every 4hrs. I forget how much the dose was..and after 2 pills were down i too vomitted for the next 5 or 6 hrs after having taken them. I'm guessing our bodies just couldn't handle that much.. Not pleasant..

I'm glad you'll be there with your daughter and again, I hope everything goes well..

home - she's snoring with oogie gauze hanging out of her mouth. poor baby. i can't decide if i should give her the percocet or just go with lots of ibuprofin and tylenol so she doesn't vomit. i'm so leary on the percocet. gotta make a decision soon and wake her up.

punkin's at 234, about +3.75, finished breakfast, snoozing by the nanners.

The worst surgery I've had, and I've had it done 5 times, was for ingrown toenails. All but one time (which was the first time I had it done) the numbing part of it hurt SO BAD. Its also extremely uncomfortable. All but one of the podiatrists were jerks too... which only makes everything 10 times worse.

I had one wisdom tooth removed when I was in high school about 2 weeks before our school musical where I was one of the leads... :lol: It kept coming up then disappearing and everytime it was out it would make my face and neck swell and I couldn't sing. I remember being completely petrified (I am scared of non-tattoo type needles). I went to the dentist with my then-BF-now-DH and I was completely freaking out... crying the whole works. The dentist numbed me up and I remember it not hurting.. but I was still freaking out. He then came in like 10 min later and told me he was going to check on the numbness, let him know if I feel anything. I felt some pressure as he was saying "Does this hurt?" and maybe 30 seconds later he was holding my toof in front of a VERY BEWILDERED me.

Don't say the tongue tie thing :cry: :cry: :cry: I was supposed to get that done last year and I chickened out because everyone told me how HORRIBLY PAINFUL IT IS!!! (I told you, I put things off!) Ugh!!!!!

Oh the horror stories. I've always said (in a joking way, of course) that I'm genetically superior to other people because I was born with no wisdom teeth. My sister said it just made me dumber than everyone else because I had no wisdom. :lol: Actually, I was one lucky kid. My teeth grew in completely straight AND no wisdom teeth. My daughter had perfectly straight teeth, but her bite was off on one side so she had to have braces for 2.5 years to widen her upper palate and shift her upper teeth on one side over... but she has no wisdom teeth either. I can't even image having a tooth yanked out of your head. How could it NOT hurt?

Glad to hear that you guys are back home and that it went well for all involved .. Peter does not have any wisdom teeth either .. my sister had all four of hers removed only to have a fifth one grow back years later :shock: I'm down to 2 but with no insurance it's hard to get them taken care of ..

speaking from experience - 10 plus years of extensive oral surgeries that started from a bad accident when I was six- give her the heavy stuff. you can always call the dr. and ask for an anti nausea med to take with it, but once the pain cycle starts, it's hard to break and that is when things can get really tough. Her pain may also be exacerbated by the anxiety, so I think it's worth it to go big. The anti nausea meds I've received to combine with pain meds like these are also usually a form of anti histamine as well which can help take some of the swelling down and keep her knocked out.

Nice #s from punkin, maybe he can provide some creature comfort to her.

the total cost for this was something like $2200 - fortunately we have good insurance and a reimbursement account (pre-tax money you can use for medical costs.)

stephanie, she was really glad to have gotten it done. my eldest is also a singer and it made a lot of difference to her in being able to sing. it wasn't fun, but nothing medical/dental ever is.

Hope the wisdom teeth removal was a success and DD is not feeling too poorly. Looks like Punkin is giving you a break.

Here's fingers crossed that IAA comes back negative when you do it.

she's doing unbelievably well. i can't believe it, honestly. probably the percocet is helping, but she's the first one to not have any complications. antijinx.

haven't heard back from my vet yet on the testing. last night he said he had to do some research on it - he's really a great guy. i think he's not skilled in feline diabetes but he's so willing to learn and he's a good man. i respect him.

i keep hoping punkin's going to adjust to this dose without us having to go higher.
 
hi guys... another late visit for me. I thought I had stopped on in this morning... guess not, or the post vanished. Well - anyways... glad that your DD survived the wisdom teeth thing. It is nice not to have any complications - YAY! I hope she has a speedy recovery.

Looks like punkin is holding his own - nice! Made blue today too - even better! :-D :-D

excellent that DH gave the shot! - so nice to have a backup.
