Re: 5/17 Ella amps 371

Hope the new dose works for Ella! Look at Rosy, she had the dose crease this morning and now green at her nadir already. I did not expect it to happen, not this fast. Watch out for your supercat !

In retrospect I should have tried the new bottle when she was on .75u. I hesitated to use it as the older one gave us some sunny yellows but those only happened over two cycles. If it is less effective, then is it possible that 1 u may be too much insulin to give in the new bottle?
When I use it on Friday night should I go back to .75 u just to be safe? DH won't be around so I'm solo if we get into a sticky situation. I still don't understand why we're back at 1 u if that dose was clearly too high for her a few weeks back.

Re: 5/17 Ella amps 371

Hi guys .. no answers from me .. I sure hope either the new bottle of the new dose brings ella back down some! Don't forget, even if your DH is not home, someone is always here to help out :-D have a great day!

Re: 5/17 Ella amps 371

HI Devon,

Thanks for visiting:) I can handle low numbers and am confident there will be people on the board to support me but being the only one home means there won't be any shift changes (if needed:)

Re: 5/17 Ella amps 371

Good morning! Come on down Ella! Good luck on the new insulin. Isn't it crazy how they go up and down the dosing ladder? We have been up and down it so many times. I always wondered that about new insulin and have asked that question. You may just want to be vigilant but they usually don't recommend adjusting the dose for a new bottle since you don't know for sure if the insulin was old. A dose that was too much at one point (even just a couple of weeks ago) can now be the magic dose depending on how their pancrease is working.

Hang in there! You are doing great!

Re: 5/17 Ella amps 371

That was then, this is now. Might be the insulin has become less effective, might be she's been in pinks for a while and needs a kick-start. And this is Ella. I defy you to figure her out. It's not clear whether the insulin is pooping out, but if you begin the new vial, I'd be tempted to start with 0.75U only because of her spectacular dives in the past. But again, try not to get too stuck on what she *DID* and look at what she's *DOING*. There isn't quite enough data to figure this out. And this is Ella

I have to ask since it's not clear in the photo -- what color is she? That might explain a lot...

Tamara

I would not change the dose with the new insulin. I think she needs the 1u to at least get her started. The weekend is coming up and you'll be able to monitor her. Yes, it is Ella but she's been at high numbers too long and I'm going to start worrying about insulin resistance so we just need to stay on this dose and see what happens. The new insulin might give her a little extra kick but you are in control, right? It's ok...you know we'll be here to help you if she comes down and you know what to do now, too.

MJ is correct....then was then and now is now. They change. :-D

Re: 5/17 Ella amps 371

Thanks for all of your visits:) I sure hope she doesn't have insulin resistance. That would be detrimental.
What I think I'm hearing is that I should try the new bottle tomorrow night? That will be her 3rd cycle on the 1u. Is that correct?
MJ, she is a Calico.

Re: 5/17 Ella amps 371

Hi and good luck on the new dose. I recently bought a new vial after using it for four months, and I didn't notice any difference in Maggie's numbers with the new vial. I hope this doesn't confuse things for you. Each cat is different though. Have a nice day.

Re: 5/17 Ella amps 371

OT: Does feline herpes virus have an effect on bg? Just got home and one of my fosters has the winky eye. I'm not sure but Ella may be a carrier. Prior to her bout with pancreatitis, I took her into the vet for blood work and a pink inflammed eye. I thought it might be herpes or an allergy. The doc gave her a steroid shot to see if it was allergies and her eye did get better. She still rubs them and her nose so I'm thinking it's allergies but not sure.
Just wondering if any of them have an effect on bg.

Thanks!

PMPS 409

Ella licked her plate clean and is chilling out. Paws crossed that this 1u will start soringt her out. It's been a LONG time since we've seen good numbers.

Re: 5/17 Ella PMPS 409

Pain can cause the BG to increase. I'm not sure about herpes in a FD.

Since its coming up on the weekend and she's on her 3rd cycle of 1u, if she doesn't start to head down, we will have the opportunity for a Dosecrease while you're home. But hopefully when her shed fills, we'll see some movement on this dose.

Hear that Ella?

Yes threaten her Auntie Marjorie!!! She needs a good kick in the fur pants:)
She's on her 2nd cycle now. These patient pants are almost off!

Good luck with the new dose Tamara and Ella. It's so frustrating to up the dose and then get higher numbers because of NDW. Hopefully she will show you a little action soon. Ella, we want to see at least blues young lady!

Isn't it the long weekend for you too? Good time to try out a new dose and a new vial.

Yes we are approaching the long weekend so it's a good time to experiment although I'd like to enjoy some of it too :-D
