Do many of you out there use the shorter needles? I wondered if these might make things easier? He's lost some weight and so he's not as fleshy and stretchy (a little dehydrated too), so I thought these might find their way in and not through the (small) tent and possibly into my finger. Or maybe they just get lost in the fur... I know you can get used to anything, but I've been getting a little nervous about pressing the syringe flush against his skin for fear of fur shots.
Thoughts?

We've been using the 5/16 needles for a couple of years....they have been perfect for out big kitty:)

When Squeaker was on insulin I always used the 5/16 they were less intimidating to me than the 1/2 which looked like a javelin.

Might want to try offering unflavored Pedialyte instead of water to William to help with the dehydration.

I love the 5/16 needle. BD makes an even shorter one too 6mm vs the ~8mm that 5/16" is.

Bat-Bat has "tight" skin; kinda think-skinned, too - so has always been hard to do the "tenting" method.
The 5/16" work much better for us!

Thanks everyone for the input! My other kitties are so stretchy! It would be a breeze to give them a shot with any old needle. Maybe it'll change after we get his diabetes better controlled. We shall see... I ordered some and I feel like it's gonna be better for us both after I learn the different feel of them. Thanks!
