5/16. TiTi up to 456BG=kibble raid.

She's had 24 hours of methimazole (thyroid), and her first sub-q, and she seems great. I'm using the 22 gauge Terumo needle for the sub-q and she was fine with it, so that's encouraging. Can't wait until she starts gaining back some weight. Normal for her is 10-12lbs. Her present 8lbs 1oz is quite worrisome.

The new vet I have (my old vet went back to her home state) seems quite good. Had no problem with the acro diagnosis, and does not find it unusual. She was hired straight out of graduating from her Vet school, and is very up on all the newest new. She's also kind, and treated TiTi like the empress TiTi is!

Usually , with such a low creatinine (2.9) and a slowly declining set of kidneys, I'd hope for another 2-5 years for TiTi, since she is relatively young, just started her 12th year on earth. However, the diabetes complicated by acro, may significantly lower her time with me.
I've never dealt with this combo of diagnosis' before.
 
22ga looks intimidating, but our kitties don't mind it at all. I do try to face the thicker needles in the right direction, unlike the skinny insulin needles.

Usually not at all, but lately not so great -that's nausea I think, from the CKD, particularly the high phosphorus. Otherwise she's quite normal, except for some night wailing. That's from the hyper-t. She should get better within 2 to 4 weeks, I hope. Course the down side is that then her kidney values will rise. Hyper-T masks the kidney problems.

22 gauge is very thin. You might use even smaller for kittens like 25 gauge, or less
And I use terumo -thin walled needles, so she doesn't feel much as it goes in. It does take longer, like twice as long at least, but it's worth it to keep her out of pain. Oh and you must put them in right side up, otherwise there's not much point to the thin walled needles.

The lower the number in needles, the thicker the bole. I know it's counter-intuitive, but that's how they go.
 
You may want to put "acro" in your sig. Sorry to hear about the food raid. It happens. I think our acro-cats have a fifth sense to know when they can sneak some carbs. Leo is the master!

Our acros need extra love. But they give it all back. We take it a month at a time now. I sneak Leo a few carb treats every day. You never know when their last month is.

I think we misunderstood one another. I'm using 22 gauge thin walled terumo for subcutaneous administration of fluids. Many use 18 or 19 gauge because the fluids are more quickly administered.

You're right. I just got confirmation from my vet that TiTI does have acro. based on a physical exam. I'll put it in when I am more awake.
Yes, TiTi is a terrific carb thief.
 
I'm so excited to hear that you have a new vet that you like and that seems to be up to speed on acro and FD! I know how much you liked your old vet and mourned her leaving.

I know you are giving Cerenia for the nausea, but have you tried giving Ondansetron? For some cats, it works better, and still other cats need both (mind did).
