No ketones, playful, drinking normal, but still no improvement in weight. Some days he eats really great, most other days he eats good/normal but he has slowly lost almost half a pound over the past 4 months :(

Sounds like other than weight Tigger is doing pretty good. My vet had mentioned something about muscle wasting being very common in older cats. If tigger is eating and playing normally do you think that muscle wasting could be contributing to the weight loss?

I think it could, because no matter what his little back pelvis, hip area always looks so bony

If that’s the case I don’t think there is too much you can do. As long as he’s happy, healthy, playful, and has a normal appetite I wouldn’t stress too much :)

I know, it just really points out his age more than anything else. Give him a ball of paper and you got yourself a kitten. I miss his plump days.

Mowgli also has muscle wasting. It was shocking at first but now that I see that he is healthy in every other way so I’ve accepted that this is just a part of him getting older.

I wish cats aged at the same rate as humans.
