Georgia and Simon (GA)

Member Since 2010
Simon has been doing ok over the last few days but the stiffness in his legs is still the same. This morning, I am going to the vet to get Onsior to start him on it to see if that will help. I am feeling so nervous about it, but the alternative is to keep things as is, knowing that he is in pain. The bupe has not helped much so that is probably not the best long-term thing for him. I am going to see if my vet can start him slowly on it in case there are any problems. The dose for Simon is 2 pills a day (at the same time) for 3 days. Simon has IBD issues and I know Onsior is not the best med for kitties with tummy problems, so we'll see if it upsets his stomach. There just are not that many alternatives out there for chronic arthritic pain. They all come with side effects.

Anyway, I will give him the first dose later today when I get back from my book group. I don't want to start him on it when I can't be here to monitor. I'll let y'all know how things go.

Have a wonderful day.

I just gave Simon the first of the Onsior tablets about an hour ago. I wimped out and did not give him the 2 tablets like the vet told me to do. The dose is based on the weight of the cat and Simon is just a little over the amount for 1 tablet. I figure it is better to be a little safe the first time I give it to him and so decided to only give 1 pill. The vet says I may see a difference even after the first dose but nothing so far. Simon did eat his dinner so I am hoping that will help with any stomach upset. I'll keep you updated!

Don't expect too much from the first dose, Georgia, especially since it is reduced. Don't get discouraged! I don't blame you for being nervous about what it might do. We never want to make things worse!

Sending lots of healing and medicine vines to help Simon.

Simon is doing his low thing right before bed. Maybe he is feeling a little bit better. I caught him grooming himself -- he hasn't really done that in awhile and he is not walking on his hocks as much (or at least it does not look as bad). Small steps I hope. I just gave some MC food and will check BG in a little bit before bed.
Thanks everyone for your words of support.
