I'm sooooo glad it's Saturday and I don't have to work. Yesterday was stressful with meetings and lots of complex subjects to discuss...

So today I think I'm going to relax and try to catch my breath.

The fires are a good ways from us. The closer one was managed well by the fire department. And it did rain/drizzle for most of the day yesterday. This is just the dry season and those darn brush fires seem to pop up all over the place.

I will have to think a bit about trying to have anything ready to go...obviously our lives (DH, myself and Luci) are more important than any stuff...my work is all electronic...so if it were to ever come down to that we'd be away in no time flat. Let's just hope we have plenty of warning. Still no plans to migrate back up north. Michigan is still on lock down which prevents us from having more than a discussion about when we think we might pick a date to go back...it's just difficult when there's so much uncertainty. The only thing we know is that the 'stay at home' policy is in place in Michigan until the end of May...and could possibly be extended into June...meanwhile things are opening up here in Florida as cases fall. Interestingly there's been a real increase in testing all over the place with still low percentages of people reported as positive and the hospitalizations continue to fall...which is good news. We hope that trend continues...

On that note, I hope you all have a lovely relaxing Saturday and that your kitties surf safely!

Have a wonderful weekend Sue, so glad they got the closer fires somewhat under control and you've got a good "exit" plan, JIC!! :bighug:

I see you went for a midnight swim Luci, hope to see you looking adorable and rocking your surfboard again today!! :D

" The Biggest health threat from smoke is from fine particles in the air" Is the fire close enough that you can smell it? I imagine anyone with asthma is having breathing problems? If it's not one thing it's something else!! Be safe.

@Sonia & Leo, @carfurby - we went by the area where the fire was yesterday - OMG it was huge! I had no idea that much was burning! They had a follow up crew there today looking for hot spots...this place is so dry...even after a rainy day...still too dry...and today is hot, sunny and windy again.

@Olive & Paula - we may end up staying...DH is optimistic about going back to Michigan - and we're trying to be flexible. We'll just work around whatever may come and do our best.

@JoyBee&Ravan - when the fires are burning like they were the local news advises that we stay indoors and keep the doors/windows closed and A/C on - with the heat around here that's not too difficult to do. People with breathing problems use air filtration systems. Luckily DH and I don't have asthma or breathing issues...at least not yet!

Thank you all for your concern...I think these folks around here are used to these brush fires...they have a lot of crews to work on them...I pray they're all safe and can continue to perform their duties efficiently! Yesterday they had a Huey helicopter sucking water out of a lake dropping it on the fire - 350 gallons in a minute...to dump on the fire...I was impressed!
