Good morning!! We are sending healing vines to Jill's DGS, Sienne's sister, Zoe, Butthead, Rocket, and Miss Emily.

Gracie is doing really well this morning..purry and playful. I don't know if the new pen kick started her last night or she has decided to think more seriously about this dose again. I shot the same dose this morning....I'll give her a little more time.

This morning I discovered a hard lump on Teddi's face about the same place I notice Butthead's; it isn't small and I can't move it. I did notice yesterday that she seemed to chew her food kinda weird and so I looked at her teeth and gums (even tho vet just looked at them last week). Dr. B is always very thorough. I can't believe I haven't felt it before as I handle her alot...she gets oral meds every day. Anyway, I'm on the way to the vet with her in 30 mins. Will update all later. Please send her some healing vines. Thank you all.

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI LUMP LIKE BUTTHEADs

I'm definitely going to be saying a few prayers for Teddi today. I'm glad you're able to get into the vet so quickly. Healing vines sent.

I see Gracie has decided to get back to business. It sure looks like the new pen had something to do with it, but I guess you'll have to wait a couple cycles to make sure. I just bought my first pen (finally found a place that would sell me one), but havent decided to use it yet. The vial I'm using is the one I started with at the very end of March so while it should still be good since it's always refrigerated, looks clear, and has no floaties, if Champ's numbers stay high again, I'm thinking I need to break it out and see if it makes a difference.

Please update on Teddi as soon as you know anything. Paws crossed it's nothing at all!!

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI LUMP LIKE BUTTHEADs

Marjorie, healing vines and prayers already there. I sure hope for good news about Teddi!!

So happy to hear that Gracie is doing well for you..
Good luck with the Vet visit, I'll be checking in to see what you found out...
Big Hugs Marje :YMHUG:

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI LUMP LIKE BUTTHEADs

Oh no - I hope all is well, and everything will check out OK, that it is nothing serious. Healing vines and positive thoughts for Teddi. Please update when you can.

Nice numbers for Gracie yesterday - better. Good luck with the dosing too.

Gracie - off to Florida for the party. I can picks you up. I hope everything is OK with Teddi. ~~ Mannie

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI LUMP LIKE BUTTHEADs

Oh god... well Butthead's lump started in his ear and re-grew elsewhere, so hopefully Teddi's lump is *nothing* like Butthead's. Praying for you.

MJ&Donovan&Butthead

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI LUMP LIKE BUTTHEADs

Sending snowflakes and healing vines to Teddi. I hope that it is not serious. Please keep us informed.

Hugs,
Ella

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI has an abcess

DH here - Marje just called from the vet . Teddi has a large abcess inside her mouth. They are cleaning it out and taking a closer look at what might have caused it. It came up really fast. Will update when I hear something else, good news for now.

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI has an abcess

I had wondered - they grow extremely fast, can be as hard as a rock... well it is, in a way, good news. It is difficult when they are on the face, near or in the mouth, but it should heal just fine. She'll probably look like Frankenstein when she comes home (well mine did -they all had drain tubes...), but will feel so much better. Thanks for letting us know Mike.

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI has an abcess

Prayers for Teddi that the abcess drains & goes right down!! Gee we never get a dull moment right??
Glad vet took him right--Healing Light around Teddi today!! and HUGS!

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI has an abcess

Wow, I'm glad you got teddi into the vet so fast and got everything taken care of .. hopefully she's on the road to feeling better very soon .. I hope that gracie decides to come off the pink floor today .. she's so close to yellow!

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI has an abcess

prayers for Teddi and hugs to you....i really hope is nothing like everyone is telling you...please keep us updated on what the vet says....will be looking for the update....

thank you for keeping Rocket in your prayers....means a lot to me

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI has an abcess

Goodness that is some good news at least.. I'll be praying for Teddi that it clears up quick and he can be right as rain real soon..
I'll be checking back in a bit for another (good  update)
Thanks again DH for keeping us up to date!

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI has an abcess

Marje and Mike,
So sorry to hear about Teddi's abcess. I know nothing about them, or how they're treated, but I'm just glad it wasn't a tumor. And, it sounds like Marje caught it very quickly and that is great. I'll be sending healing thoughts today, and will check in tonight for an update.

Come down a bit, Gracie, so you can go to the party at Zoe's in Florida! It'll be fun! See you there! Tessie Lou

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI has an abcess

Feel better Teddi.....thankful its "just" an abcess  .....hope it heals quickly and easily.

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI has an abcess

I just came in and saw this. Poor Teddi! I'm glad it an abscess, but hope not a sign of something else. Sending vines, snowflakes and white light!

Gracie, KTSS will be waiting when Teddi gets home. She is part of the family! -- Tess

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 TEDDI has an abcess

Thank you all so much for your wishes.

MJ: I remember that Butthead's started in his ear; the place where this lump looked to be was similar to where his is now. I freaked when I felt it and Butthead just immediately came to mind and I didn't know how else to put it. Butthead's tumor has me very gun shy.....they say SFs are healthy cats but I sometimes...well....

Our regular vet, Dr. B is only in on Tues, Thurs so we saw a different vet at the same clinic...she does everything but is also an urgent care specialist. I REALLY liked her. I told her I was certain this came up really fast...was not there last night. She said the lumps from abscesses can easily come up even within an hour. While Teddi's teeth look good, there was a red, infected area at the back bottom gum and it had spread down into the lip and cheek. At least, that is the way it looks and she is hoping that is all it is. She said she cannot rule out oral cancer as the underlying cause of all this; I appreciated her candor. She cleaned it all out, opened and drained the abscess, showed me how to do compresses, put Teddi on clavamox and buprenex for pain. Teddi already seems to feel better. We are to take her back on Wed if there is not drastic improvement. We won't know on the source of this until the AB has a chance to work. She said oral cancer in cat is fairly common. If it doesn't totally resolve, we will have to let them anesthetize her and do a biopsy. One step at a time though.

As she was writing stuff up for Teddi's "report card" (I love that!), we were talking about Gracie. I was impressed with her thoughts about FD. I told her I was always afraid I was going to miss something with one of the other cats because of all the attention Gracie gets. She said "yes...if you are managing FD correctly, it is extremely time consuming". She also said that alot of people have a difficult time getting their cats to eat on a schedule and consistently and she feels that is very important in managing FD. I told her we are very fortunate that Gracie has adapted to her feeding schedule. She was also impressed with the hometesting and that Gracie does so well with it.

So....I really appreciate everyone's healing vines. I am afraid I won't be able to do condos today. My mom is back in the hospital with severe cellulitis and MRSA and my other really close friend just texted me that her mother, who fell and broke her leg last week, just passed away. This is exactly what happened to my dad. So I'm off to help her.

Thank you again for all your prayers and thoughts for Teddi Bear.

And Gracie..... confused_cat cat(2)_steam cat(2)_steam Put patience pants back on again.

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385

Oh no, Marje and Mike so sorry to hear about Teddi. I just got back myself from the Vet with Maggie. I'm sending healing vines and prayers for Teddi. So sorry to hear your Mom has severe cellulitis and MRASA and so sorry about your friend's Mom passing away. I worry so much about my 93 year old Mom taking a fall again. Sending some vines and prayers for you, too. You have a lot on your plate right now. Hugs

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385

Geez, Marjorie. You're juggling a huge amount. Don't worry about condos. Just do what you need for your kitties and your DM. Take care of yourself, too!

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385

Well goodness gracious Marjorie, sending prayers and lots of healing vines your way for everything that is facing you right now.. That's good to hear Teddi is feeling somewhat better already. I hope that continues. Nice job in catching it so fast
I hope that your Mother starts to feel better soon and she can leave that icky place..and I'm so very sad to hear about your friends mother too.. That's good that you can be there for her right now..
Big Hugs to you all! :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385

Hi Marje - so sorry about your friends mom. A similar situation happened with my dad too. He fell, and never really did recover from it. My thoughts are with you, and her family. I hope your mom will be better soon. Many healing vines for her today.

I hope all will be well with Teddi. It is good you caught it when you did - they do grow extremely fast, and can rupture: yuk! Abscesses are never fun, but they are quite curable. I cannot count the number of times I've had to deal with those, on my own, and with a vet. You just need to stay on top of it as best you can, make sure the draining continues. The AB's will help. Paws crossed that it isn't anything more serious laying under neath. Healing vines for Teddi too. Mannie said he would bring the KTSS by to visit Teddi before he heads on out to the party.

I hope you have a nice evening - I am sorry for all that has happened today. That indeed is a lot on ones plate in one day. HUGS!

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385

I wish I could hug each of you individually for your awesome support today. At least I can say that everything else has kept me from dwelling on Gracie's numbers. There is no more amazing place than LL...everyone always here for you when life happens. Thank you ....each of you. I hope you will forgive me for not doing the usual comments to each of you....just know I have thanked you all by name in my heart.

Teddi has slept most of the day but has also eaten well. She does seem to feel better. I know things must have been brewing in there for a bit but I caught the lump early. I, too, pray this is nothing more than an abscess....Teddi has been through so much lately and she is such a trooper.

My mom is doing ok....bossing everyone around. I never made it to TX to see her due to Teddi's issues with her thyroid and the medication. I have two sisters that live within 1 min and 15 mins of her so she isn't alone. She is pretty sharp mindwise but neglected her health the last 15 years, is overweight, etc (she was always so slim and beautiful). Since Daddy suddenly passed (thank you Michelle for sharing your dad's story) seven years ago, she has become so self absorbed that I hardly recognize her; so many of my friends say this happens and there is such grief over the loss of the mom I always knew. I am trying very hard to learn to love the person she has become.

My friend's mom, who lives here in Tucson and who I know well, had severe osteoporosis, diabetes, glaucoma, etc. Such a sweet lady. She fell last week and fractured her tibia. There was not much the doctors could do (she couldn't withstand surgery and the bones were straight) but manage her pain; they sent her to skilled nursing but her bp dropped so they gave her fluids. This caused congestive heart failure. She went to the ICU Sat and then into hospice Sun. She passed away this morning while I was at the vet with Teddi. My friend is holding up amazingly well; I worry so about her dad and am glad he is staying with Glenda right now. Glenda was there for me when my dad passed suddenly.

So...we move on don't we? It's life....we all deal with it. Your thoughts, prayers, comforting words have helped me immensely today. Hugs and love to you all.

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385 +10 354

Wow, Marjorie...you certainly do have your hands full right now. I admire your strength! Continued thoughts and prayers for you....

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385 +10 354

oh marjorie, what a load. first, i'm gonna vote that teddi's abscess is just an abscess! that's enough to manage by itself without any extra worries!

a fall was also what killed my mom - she was holding a door open for someone and somehow her feet got tangled and she broke her upper leg bone. the survival rates for women who break a leg just plummet past 65. every year of age decreases the chance of surviving 6 months. mom recovered from the hip surgery, but then had a stroke. recovered from the stroke, then developed a bladder infection - did all of you with older parents know that a bladder infection in an older adult doesn't look anything like a bladder infection in a younger person? there's usually no pain because the lining of the bladder has thickened with age. but what does happen is they develop dementia-like symptoms. anyway, mom just took one hit after another and it was too much. with the bladder infection bringing her down (and making her look like she was senile) then all the stroke effects came back - trouble swallowing and whatnot. anyway, mom had just turned 80 and had been in decent health until the fall. it's just something everyone older needs to be careful for, not that you can control everything.

i can only imagine what you're going through with your mom, marjorie. that sounds like depression, all the personality changes and whatnot. i hope she makes a quick recovery from the cellulitis!

you and mike need a night outside on your patio!

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385 +10 354

Oh boy Marje, kind of a rotten day you've had. Sorry to hear about Teddi, your mom and your friends mom as well. ((((((((HUGS))))))))

Good to hear Teddi is feeling better tho.

Hoping you and Mike have a great night ;-)

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385 +10 354

(((((Marjorie)))))

I'm so glad its most likely an abcess and that you caught it so early. Sounds like others have experience with this and can hold your hand through this also. Eating is always a good sign ;) Keep it up Teddi

Healing vines to your mom. I know you are grieve your old mom. My dad had bipolar disorder that hit when he was 50. He completely changed. I learned to accept the new him, but missed my old dad. But it is like my old dad died. But when he was diagnosed with cancer, the old dad was back. We only had six weeks with him though. I'll always treasure that time.

You've had a big day. Sending lots of hugs.

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385 +10 354

Take care of your family, original and adopted. We're here when you need us, don't worry about the condos. You have so much on your hands right now, I'm glad that Mike is home! :YMHUG:

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385 +10 354

Marjorie,

Just popping in to send all sorts of good thoughts and well wishes to all your kitties and you and your family. You have a whole lot of stuff to deal with and I just wanted to tell you that your are one brave mama. I hope in the process of taking care of everyone around you, you are taking a small amount of time for yourself. You can't help others if you aren't taking care of you.

Re: 5/16 Gracie AMPS 305 +2 375 +4 385 +10 354

(((((((Marje)))))))

Bless your heart. I'm glad you were do diligent in spotting the lump on Teddy. Hoping its just an abscess and the AB will take care of it. Sending healing vines for your Mom. Its hard to watch our Mom or Dad change so much like you described. Hugs for you my dear.

Re: 5/16 Gracie PMPS 319

((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))

Yes, life happens and life goes on, but that doesn't make any of it any easier.

I feel very badly for your Mom. It sounds like she got stuck in one of the stages of grief and never found her way through or wanted too. When my Dad died in Dec. of 1996 ...my Mom "followed him to the grave" per se. She had ALS and after Dad passed...it was like she just gave up. She died Mother's Day of 1997.

All the changes my life has seen since then and yes, I have changed too. One cannot go through such things and not be changed by the circumstances.

I am glad to read Teddi is doing better. And from our little house to yours...many healing vines are being sent over the miles.

Pssst. Gracie I have some pink pants for you if you want to wear them. My bean yelled at me to get them off! ~~Attie

Re: 5/16 Gracie PMPS 319

Oh Marje. This is the first time I've seen this post. Been mostly absent today.
I am so overwhelmed with emotion for you, I can only imagine how you feel.
I can only send love and hugs, to you.
I will be keeping Teddi in my prayers, that her poor little mouth will heal, and it is 'only' an infection, albeit painful.

I so feel for your mom. When my husband died, for a whole month, my daughter had to tell me to put one foot in front of the other, to walk; I was just paralyzed with grief. As much as you want to pull your mom out of herself, she has to want to. That kind of grief changes us.
I will keep her in my prayers, for a good recovery.
Marjorie, I'm sorry so much has happened to make you sad.

Re: 5/16 Gracie PMPS 319 + 2 297

Amy: thank you....strength comes from 21 years as an Air Force wife....Mike gone alot...off to war, deployed, etc. and we didn't have the communication capabilities that the troops have now with their families. What do they say..."what doesn't kill you makes you strong"... so true :-D

Julie: I'm sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing your story of your mom. How very sad that one action of kindness led to her slide downhill.

Tracy: we're ok...we're hanging in there; I'm glad Mike is home.

Karrie: I'm also sorry for your loss and how special the memories must be for you of the time you had when your old dad was back.

Ann: thank you, my dear friend!! And yes...I am glad he's back, too.

Linda: thank you....I do appreciate your thoughts and comments. And I do try but you know how it is!!

Tena: yes, I miss my dad very, very much and also my mom; we always had so many adventures and so much fun together.

Beth: I'm so sorry for your losses....I can't imagine losing both parents so quickly. And your mom on Mother's Day.... BIG HUGS to you. No..it doesn't make it easier but you have to move forward. And Gracie thanks Attie for the pink pants but .....don't think so!!

Barb: I think losing your spouse must be the hardest of all...well, I guess except kids. I am sure you are very thankful and grateful that your daughter made you move forward. Yes, grief changes us; we have no choice. I admire you for your strength, Barb.

We were hoping Gracie would come back down tonight....well, looks like not. Guess it's a good night to try and rest. I go back TBP tomorrow. Teddi has been eating well tonight and acting more like her little spunky self. I'm going to say goodnight to you all and Mike will be up for a bit yet.

Thank you my friends. Thank you.

I've been so busy with work that I haven't checked in with anyone. Geez, Marje. I'm so sorry I was so inattentive when you were going through all this. I'm sending my prayers and healing vines to your kitties, friends, and family, and to you most of all. What a day you've had. Tomorrow has to be better.
