Can you take a peek at Gizzy's SS and shed some light on why his #'s are always high in the morning (AMPS) and low at night (PMPS)? It seems like a definite pattern lately and I can't figure out why.....

I haven't been on the site for awhile....
Celi & Binks - CONGRATS on your OTJ party!!!! That fills me with lots of hope that old Giz can do it again too! :) dancing_cat

I don't think there's enough data to make a definitive statement about a pattern. You have very little info beyond PMPS. Getting tests dring the PM cycle is very important. It's quite possible that Gizzy is bouncing.

In general, and I can't conclude this based on Gizzy's SS, some cats experience "dawn phenomenon." Due to the body's natural rhythms, cortisol is released in the early AM hours as a means to prepare the body for the stress of the day. The presences of a natural corticosteroid raises BG levels.

OK - I'll start trying to get some tests during the night. What are the most important times?

I'm not one to suggest that you stay up all night. Get at minimum, a test before you go to bed. If numbers are dropping, you know to test more.

I can help answer that,
check this sticky, New To the Group

and scroll down to the chart, Learn How Your Kitty Is Responding to Insulin it will help you see what can happen during any given cycle.

We like to encourage at least one bedtime test,
2 if u can manage it would be great....examples:
+1, +2, +3 are good options, and its good to get these on different nights.
So one night you get a +3, next night try a +2, etc....
early cycle checks are just as important, especially if you have a lower than usual preshot number.

And depending when your bedtime is, anything around +4, +5 or +6.
Keeping in mind, sometimes you may have to monitor more closely should you catch a lower than usual number.
