Hello everyone,

After this AM shot I inspected the needle under the magnifying glass and teeny tiny BLOOD DROP appeared at the top of the needle. Ducia doesn't act hurt or in pain. The injection site is the side of her belly, a bit closer to the armpit area.

I might be mistaken but I think there is no major veins at this site and that I hit the capillary. :banghead:

Is that a problem?:nailbiting: Can it cause any significant damage? She ate quite some gravy lately and gaining - it's getting difficult to pinch the skin and properly "tent" it for the injection. It never happened before. :(

Wishing all kitties and beans happy healthy day.

My prayers to the Medicine Buddha to cast his healing light to expel pain and suffering for Theo and Wendy

I am not an expert, but when my vet was demonstrating insulin injection onYum with water in the syringe---I did see blood on the needle tip for one jab. Freaked me out but not the vet. She wanted me to inject then pull back on the plunger to make sure it wasn't sucking air, but I don't do that.

The vet tech said to pull back on the plunger to be sure there was no blood before injecting. That way, you know you aren't injecting into a blood vein.

Hmmm. I was pretty stressed out so I might have misunderstood what the vet said about pulling back on the plunger. However, she was trying to make sure that Yum's rising numbers weren't due to poor technique and fur shots on my part. I thought she told me to check for resistance not blood. I hope someone who knows more responds.

TY! I rather concern with causing Ducia pain - doesn't look like that so far or to cause any damage to the tissues or capillaries...:(
The numbers.. you know - they are numbers..we all deal with them whatever they are...:blackeye::cat:

My vet tech instructed drawing back the plunger before injecting too to make sure the needled isn't in a vein but I had a lot of FS doing it that way so, I stopped. It really is rare that you'd hit one IMHO.

Well, pretty troubling I misunderstood or misremembered the pull back on the plunger lesson. Glad to see the correct information here. I do recall that, as the vet demo'd the technique, I decided there was no way I was going to attempt it. Not sure if I saw it in any of the videos I watched.
