Chuck threw a 317 at 4 this morning; I didn't even bother calling the vet, just took him in. We decided to disregard the diabetes history & instead concentrate on what would cause BGs to rise. No problems with bladder or colon on palpatation, so he's not constipated and doesn't have a bladder infection.
Think it's his teeth-they're in pretty bad shape, always have been. Vet said his breath has that "dead" smell to it. Dental next, but we have to get him healthier first. I was mentally planning a dental mid-June...
Antibiotic shot, B-12 shot, sub-q fluids, & call in the morning with update. I don't need to bring him in unless he's worse.
At this time, I think Chuck's just doing a quick visit back to his LL condo... We're scheduled to leave for St. Thomas on June 4 for 10 days and we're really looking forward to it. Of course, I'm very concerned about Chuck; talked with the vet about the possibility of boarding him if he needs to go back on insulin or needs other care -- they do have 2 4th year students who basically live at the clinic and care for the animals at night. I really don't want to board him because of the stress, but know my cat sitter wouldn't be able to do the extra care that might be needed.
