Looks like Mr P is still working it solo....I get a little nervous when I get a "pre-shot" value out of range, then totally hold my breath when do the follow up test. Today, she brought it back down to green without juice. Go, Trix!
We continue to see baby steps of progress. Today, for the first time since the p-titis diagnosis, she came downstairs when I re-got up after my post AMPS BTB and asked for an additional round of snuggles. Since she has been spending most of her time upstairs since she got sick, this was wonderful to see, even though she only stayed down her briefly.
I do think being sick has had some "psychological" effects on her. Overall, she really seems to feel pretty good and she looks good, too. But she still has her eating quirks of only eating small quantities at a time, served on a plate that MamaBean has to hold. I can get a decent amount of food in her, and she always wants to eat when I approach her...she doesn't seem nauseous or painful at all anymore. But, this is how she wants to eat now.
And, her hanging out upstairs 95% of time time...I think that's also a "security" thing for her at the moment. So her coming down on her own a second time this morning is definitely a new baby step.
I added Wild Callings! Chicken to her menu for now. She seems to like it! I know the phos level isn't great for a CKD cat, but neither is the other stuff she's willing to eat right now, either (Fancy Feast and Purina One)...and that is the focus of course: getting as many calories into her as I can while keeping the carbs down so I don't have to start shooting and worrying about that, too. I am using a binder, so hopefully that is helping with the phos. I haven't even thought about trying Paw Lickin...she was eating that when this flare started so I think she'll have an aversion, but more than that, it is so low-caloried that at the moment, it's not a good choice for her. I hope I can eventually get her migrated back to better CKD fuds. I do want to try NV Instinct Duck soon, too, but I don't want too many open cans in the fridge.
I'm off today, but do have some errand to run...gotta get myself moving. Have a great day, LL!
