Good Sunday Morning, Everyone,

Rain continued all night and this morning and expected to continue into Friday. Discouraging for our cellar! Discouraging for us!!

Rusty wanted us up in the worst way this morning, 1/2 hour early. He scratched loudly in his litterbox, he nudged us, he meowed, he worked his scratcher in the other room. Finally the beans decided they were not going to get back to sleep. Breakfast has been eaten. Shot given (trouble with the air bubble again, but I think I measured close to an 0.75--continuing to give the extra drop until I see that Rusty is back to normal numbers and then will see where we go from there). Better AMPS than yesterday in any event. Not much enthusiasm for games this morning: the weather is so dark and cold (40 degrees) and dreary that I don't blame him for just wanting to nap on the couch. I wish I could do that, but I have just spent 1 1/2 hours bailing in the cellar (not even a dent in the water volume: it just keeps coming up out of the floor).
But yesterday the Met Opera broadcast in HD was so wonderful that I can think about that as I go about my day today. Nothing planned except our Mt. club's monthly potluck supper (I'm up for a dessert).

Everyone have a good day and our wish for all ailing kitties and beans is to feel better,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 5/15 Rusty AMPS 162

Darn that rain Ella. Its just crazy you guys are getting so much there and we are experiencing a drought here. Hope the rain lets up soon and the cellar can get dry again. And you definitely deserve a dessert or two today.

Better number for Rusty this morning.

Have a good day.

Re: 5/15 Rusty AMPS 162

YAY! Better numbers today for Rusty. Thank goodness for that.

I think we should all get together and ship all our collective rains to Texas - sounds like they need it. It is so hard to believe that so many like, you suffer for rain overload, and other parts of our country so desperately need it.

I am glad that the opera broadcast was good, and that you got to see the one you missed when you had to cancel your NYC trip.

:-D :-D on Rusty's insistence that you get up, and feed him. He definitely was on a mission.

Have a good day. I hope you get a break from the rain.... not likely huh, but I hope so anyways!

Rusty! DUDE!! We are on our way, buckets in tow. We can discuss full moon plans while we bail... We need a sunny place, one with lots of flowers!!! Maybe FL, or AZ, or CA? hmmmmm....we need to think. See you soon ~~ Mannie

Re: 5/15 Rusty AMPS 162

Better numbers for Rusty today....hopefully he's refilling his shed. Sounds like, despite the weather, he has things on his mind to do today!!!

So glad you enjoyed the opera on HD last night. How wonderful that Rusty is consistent enough that you can go out in the evenings. Whatcha making for dessert? I have this most AWESOME recipe for light chocolate mousse....it uses tofu and it is to die for. No one ever suspects!!

Sending Tobey and Gracie to help with bucket brigade and warm up your 40 degree day with some AZ sunshine.

Re: 5/15 Rusty AMPS 162

How big is the potluck? My go-to dessert is sooo easy! Roll out a sheet of puff pastry to about 14 inches square, fold in the edges an inch or so, then layer on the bottom canned pear halves that you've sliced (fresh pears, peaches or apples work great too!). throw on some dabs of butter here and there and sprinkle the whole thing with sugar, then bake according the the puff pastry directions. When it comes out, brush with 2 tbsps. of melted peach or apricot preserves (mixed with some peach brandy if you'd like), and you can even throw on some bits of goat cheese if you like. Great with vanilla ice cream (and a little sprig of mint if you're being all fancy!). It is almost no effort but always impresses.

oh my goodness, Ann... the kitties in buckets picture is too much!!! Though, if they are just sitting in them, I'm not sure how much help they'll be....

Fingers and paws crossed that your rain stops soon and your cellar survives the deluge intact. Hope Rusty's numbers continue to improve!!

Re: 5/15 Rusty AMPS 162

I agree with Michelle, Texas needs the rain so much more than you do and from the sound of it with how much your cellar has accumulated, you alone could help the drought situation! My goodness when will it end. I feel for your situation and I can't imagine the stress that it puts on you @-).
I'm so glad the Opera was a nice time again and dessert, i'm on board with everyone else about that too.. Have 1 or 3 desserts of your choice today and enjoy. I think taking Roni up on here Choc Rasp. Brownies sounds like a heavenly plan.. Maybe she'll give me the recipe ;-) ,if i ask kindly enough..

Rusty, Please come back down to the pretty green colors!~~~Tommy!

Re: 5/15 Rusty AMPS 162, +5.5 60

Hi Everyone,
Well, it looks like you all did a good "think" and Rusty responded by coming down to a normal-low number at +5.5!! I guess that's why he slept all morning (not just the weather). I've got to keep an eye on him this afternoon to make sure he doesn't go too low, and depending on the afternoon numbers, I'll probably drop his dose back down to the usual (skinny 0.75). Anyway, it seems as if his shed is refilled. He just had a nice Wellness turkey lunch and is napping again. I'll retest at +7 or thereabouts.

Love the bucket brigade, Ann! Do the kitties come with the buckets?? Thanks, also, everyone, for the dessert recipes. I made brownies (from a mix) for this potluck (Rusty likes to cook, but I don't!! Stu was the real chef).

Back in a little while, Thanks for keeping an eye on Rusty.

Ella & Rusty

Re: 5/15 Rusty AMPS 162, +5.5 60

Oh wow, it looks like that extra drop was just what Rusty needed. It's amazing what just a drop will do with their bg. Hope he does well the rest of the day. That is terrible that it's impossible to keep ahead of the flooding. Wish you could send some rain our way. We have cloudy weather but no rain!

Maggie is joining the Bucket Brigade crew and is on her way with all the kitties to help Rusty bail water from the cellar, yes, bringing our own buckets, too! See ya soon!

Re: 5/15 Rusty AMPS 162, +5.5 60

Nice +5.5 there Rusty!

Love that bucket brigade picture  !

I hope the rain stops for you guys really soon...it sounds like it has been exhausting.

Rusty some times a little dab will do ya!!!
That's a good boy! Great job Ella--I wish you were here in Babylon-Montauk too--I'd be visiting you right now!!
Hugs!

Re: 5/15 Rusty AMPS 162, +5.5 60, +7.5 69, +9.5 62

Rusty is surfing nicely and we're about to leave for the potluck supper (in 1/2 hour). Fed him his +9 snack, a little Wellness turkey and a couple of freeze-dried chicken bits. He has spent most of the day sleeping, probably a reaction to having been high (for him), the weather, and whatever. He and DH had a nice grooming just now. He looks beautiful.

Back after the potluck, just in time for PMPS. The brownies turned out well (a mix from the health-food store).

Re: 5/15 Rusty AMPS 162, +5.5 60, +7.5 69, +9.5 62

Love the bucket brigade. Glad the opera was a positive in spite of the dreariness. All that water and the only place it can go is your cellar. ohmygod_smile No catching a break with darn mother nature. I'm sorry you are having such troubles. Rusty is looking beautiful today. He must be glad to be home and likes the extra drop.

Hang in there Ella.

Re: 5/15 Rusty PMPS 101

Oh Ella, I feel so bad for you, every day that I see rain coming down here, because I know you have it worse.
Checkers slept all day too. I was down for the count, due to the weather, and if I'm not up and about, teasing with toys, he won't be active either.
Rusty rebounded beautifully, from the morning blue, which was nice too, actually. I'm happy with a morning blue.

Re: 5/15 Rusty PMPS 101

Hi again, The potluck was fun. Our circle of friends hasn't done much outdoors lately because the weather has been so bad, so it was good to see everyone.
Rusty was barely blue at PMPS, so I decided to take him down a drop to his usual: a skinny 0.75. Hope it wasn't a mistake to do that. I guess we'll find out. He was on the added drop (a "regular" 0.75) for three cycles. He had a beautiful green surf today.

Enjoy the evening, everyone,

Ella & Rusty (who is headed to Ted's to bring him a belated birthday cake; he may sleepover, if Linda won't mind cleaning the guest room!)

Hey all you kitties on the Bucket Brigade! Thanks for helping me out today in the cellar! Hope you enjoyed the canoeing in the GREEN water!
Your pal,
Rusty

p.s. to Celi: great pics!

Back in the green, I think Rusty is happy with the dose. I'm glad you had a good evening with your friends even if it had to be indoors.
