5/15 Orange AMBG 156 - OTJ Trial Day 4

Hi everyone. Its day 4 of Orange's OTJ trial - I am travelling for work right now and DH just checked in with some not great news. Here's Orange's day so far:

AMBG = 156 - fed 1/2 can, Orange finished it, gave the rest of the can and he's been picking on that (DH forgot about the small meal rule)
+2 = 101
+3 = 126
+4 = 170
+5 = 167


So, with most of those numbers above normal should we start him back on insulin tonight? Or hold off another cycle and see what that gives us? The drop down from 156 to 101 is a good sign at least, right?

I'm not going to be home until tomorrow night, but I'll pass along instructions.

He's been doing really well and his BG did come down after you fed him. Not sure why it went back up, though.

I'd be tempted to give him another cycle without insulin tonight and see what he does.

I agree with Marje.

I'd also make sure that DH fed LC and not something else as well as make sure that Orange didn't find any contraband to munch on. Even if DH gave him some deli as a treat, I don't know if you remember that one of the members here couldn't figure out why her cat's numbers were so high -- honey baked ham was the culprit.

I'm not sure I ever admitted it publicly, but Binks and I did the honey-baked ham snafu for a week or two.

C'mon Orange...bring it back down!!

Binks is such a little trash food bandit that he once ate a Gummi Bear he found under the couch :shock: :lol:

Hubby here...

Well, he didn't do so well for the afternoon either (I don't have Julie's SS password again, so here are the updates instead... sorry):

No deli meat as far as I know... although I think he may have gotten one or two pieces of the dog's kibble - that was after the AM bad numbers though.

PMBG: 150 gave about 1/4 can of Turducken... he finished it quickly, didn't give him any more.
+2: 177
+3: 193

I'm going to sleep soon, and will put out a 1/4 can for him to eat overnight.

So, does he go back on in the morning? What dose?

If you guys think he has to go back on in the morning, I'll shoot him and stay home to monitor... otherwise I really should go into work.

So close but not quite hey... bummer, like me and Scooter right now.

Celi, I've got one of those too... I was having dinner with a friend and Scooter found an old crusty fruit marshmallow under the dishwasher... he swatted it around for a bit and then ate it, went back to the corner and looked for more, and came to me and started crying when he couldn't find any! ohmygod_smile
