As predicted Latte slept in the bathroom all night and did not eat until her 150pt drop! :o They just seem to happen when ever they feel like these days. Unless I test her around the clock 24/7, I cant always catch them.

Today, however her breakfast is turkey wellness, delicately drizzled with sweet karo, and carefully sprinkled with Pet Naturals Hip and Joint bone shaped chews. Why bone shaped? Well, because I accidently got the DOG version of the treats instead of the cat! ohmygod_smile I have not told her and she does not seem to mind.

She is a little quiet this a.m., and it took her about 1.5hrs after shot to actually start eating (of course after a drop). She did not eat anything overnight, but I do think it was kind of late (12am/1am) when she had some kibble and wet food on the side.

I have only been giving the bupe a few times/day and really noticed a difference in her walking last night. I think she may have fallen over once or twice from the way I found her laying at times. I am trying to get on it and give it the 3x/day, but I have to be somewhat careful with what I have left until I get more...syringes too. Hopefully I can get it resolved, or semi resolved today with the vet.

Silly Story:
Went to pharmacy to pick up a particular syringe I use for one of her meds last night. I also need them for the bupe (I ran out yesterday!). Its taken a year to train the people WHICH syringes I need. I used to go round and round with them and it was always a hassle. THIS time however, the problem was that they needed to run the prescription through like any/all other meds. Well fine. Seems like a waste of all our time, especially since its never been done before. Whatever! Come back in 20 minutes, they say. In the mean time I ask them for a price on a vial of bupe. ONLY $35 for 10ml?!?!? Well, I ask...can you get it for me? It is a morphine type drug? Uhhhhhhh..... :o better talk to the manager next week about that, they say. Ok. So I come back for her syringes/needles and they are not ready. I hear the cashier arguing with the pharmacist: "Im not telling her...no you tell her...no YOU tell her...she is standing right there!" Well, gosh thats kind of rude I think. WHO are they talking about?!?! Ha! MEEEEEE!!!! :? They would not fill my prescription because it was written for a LONG needle and all they had were SHORT! I try to explain nicely, but they would not budge. Asked them to look at my history. Nope. How many can you sell me? I have to get at least FOUR! Sell me what you can. I NEED them tonight!!!! She tries to sell me 4 and I get mad because I know they can sell 10...why isnt she selling me 10?!?! :-x  Big fuss! So mad! NEVER going back there again!

it was not until I got home that I realized the moral of the story:
NEVER go buy syringe/needles AND ask for a price on morphine in the same visit. And when they wont sell you the needles, maybe best to walk away rather than getting all mad/desperate and looking like the junky you are not!

Re: 5/15 Latte AMPS-352, +1.5-311

 Desperate person at the counter, begging for needles!!!
Yes, i suggest you don't go back there....they probably have your picture posted n the wall in the back...
See, that's why we can't take you places Carolyn....
Hope you and latte have a nice day....don't answer the door...could be the authorities!

Re: 5/15 Latte AMPS-352, +1.5-311

It's good to see Latte decided to start the day on a better floor. A slow descent to yellow and blue would be lovely.

Re: 5/15 Latte AMPS-352, +1.5-311

Oh, she looks so happy sitting in her grass. Thanks for the pictures.
I hope you both enjoy have a lovely day.

Re: 5/15 Latte AMPS-352, +1.5-311, +2.5-236

Maybe just dump the entire bottle of karo in there next time?!?!?!
Im thinking a spoon or two of baby food with a few drops of karo, since she appears settled in for the a.m. and done eating on her own.

Re: 5/15 Latte AMPS-352, +1.5-311, +2.5-236

I agree we don't want to see a repeat of yesterday's roller coaster. (((((Carolyn and Latte))))) Glad to hear she enjoyed the grass

Re: 5/15 Latte AMPS-352, +1.5-311, +2.5-236

I'm glad today's numbers so far are looking much better than last night. I love the pictures of Latte in the grass. She looks so happy. I hope you don't get any pukus from that. I wouldn't go back to that pharmacy again either. Why would they ask for a rx for needles when you didn't need it before? So silly.

I hope you and Latte have a great Saturday.

 That is something else! I hope Latte and you have a nice weekend and she doesn't bounce. I wonder about some of those pharmacies. The first time I picked up my cat's script for insulin, the instructions were to give her 20 units every 12 hours. They knew it was for a cat. One of my friends caught the mistake, but it could have been deadly for someone just starting a cat on insulin and not understand everything, as there is so much to take in at first. What happened was one Pharmacist was going off duty and left the call in script for the next shift Pharmacist, and this next shift Pharmacist misread the writing. You would have thought they would have questioned the Vet for giving 20 units! The instructions from the Vet was to give 2 units every 12 hours,

Carolyn, thanks for the good laugh over your pharmacy story! I hate those guys. Yesterday they screwed up a prescription for me and Bear's Lotensin (two different pharmacies) in one day! You continue to amaze me with all that you do for Miss Snuggle-in-the-grass!

Was just popping in to see where she was going today....

LOVED the pics on facebook. Such a beauty that Latte is! SOOO nice to see her enjoying that gorgeous bed of grass. Weather didn't cooperate for awhile - but you done good, kid! ;-)

Hope you guys are having a lovely, lazy day on this (lately) rare, gorgeous day. Just finished laboring in my own garden with Jack telling me exactly why he thinks he should be an outdoor cat again and supervising my work from the back door. (how do you explain "city" & "bus-line" to a cat that used to live in rural VA? ) So my lazy afternoon being a human cat-perch is about to commence.

Will talk to you later!

There sure was a lot of bobbling around today! But she did it! She had a flat cycle OUT of the 3, 4, and 500's! I am so proud of her!

She did not eat well today. not even a full 3oz can. Seems she is on this "Im going to eat every other day" diet. :YMSIGH:

I caught her sleeping in the grass today while I was putting away groceries. Awwwww. Her grass is now as flat as her! I bought her one of those yellow catnip bananas, since she liked the pink pillow so much. She doesnt seem to understand what she is suppose to do with it. Too big, I think. Maybe it will make a good pillow for her head.

She did make an attempt to jump onto my bed today, but not in a spot that is usual to jump from. My back was turned and I did not see until it happened. But, well...she fell. I felt so bad for her. She only fell a few inches, but in her fragile state thats a long ways. I think it hurt a little and also bruised her ego.

I got some more bupe. Somehow the vet got some in this week at a lower price. So I bought 5mls...$7.15/ml. None of the local human pharmacies around here can get it either...because of 'back order'. Grrrrr!

Oh....Latte has a new fun game! Wait until mom lays down for a nap, cuddle a bit, abruptly get up, poop in LB by mom's head and then go take a nap in the hallway...leaving momma to sleep next to the stink! :? This has happened NUMEROUS times in the last week. Today, I came to the conclusion she is doing it on purpose. What do you think it means?!?!?!?! :?:  :?:

Re: 5/15 Latte AMPS-352, PMPS~285

 It could mean a lot of things.... But well, when ya gotta go, ya gotta gooooo....
YOU are the one who put your head next to the LB anyway...what a day you've had, eh Carolyn!!!
We will have to tell Latte to ask you to leave the room when she needs to use the facilities from now on...
Loved the pictures....she looks so happy in her grass....you are such a good Mama! :YMHUG:

Re: 5/15 Latte AMPS-352, PMPS~285

Hi Carolyn, It sounds like a good day for dear Latte. Loved the pics of her in her grass bed. Stu liked it too. He thinks grass and weeds are just the cat's meow. Have a good evening and some more good numbers.
Ella & Stu

P.S. No, Stu is not allowed to sit in my lap because I'm the driver. He sits sometimes in DH's lap, but more often on a blanket that we put on the arm rest. He goes into the back (the back seats are down; it's a wagon) and sits on our stuff, looks out the window, has access to his traveling litterbox, and often just goes to sleep. Whenever we get on or off a highway or stop for a light he meows. He knows the route and always wakes up for these "events". When we stop to eat our sandwiches we put out some food and water for him, too (but he rarely eats it).

Re: 5/15 Latte AMPS-352, PMPS~285

I like her flat yellow cycle, just wish her appetite was better.
Your condo made me giggle tonight. I can just imagine how you felt after the pharmacy ordeal, what they must have been thinking.

Re: 5/15 Latte AMPS-352, PMPS~285

I have a question on bouncing that I have been meaning to ask for a loooooong time...

When a cat is bouncing, do they still fluctuate a little...drop some, go up a little, drop, etc on each cycle until it clears? Does it mean the fluctuations are not as great or have less momentum?

I just get confused because I see something like today, where she dropped from those 500's overnight and into next cycle. I think her bounce has cleared and Then she stops cold . Now she is going up again. Then i wonder..is she bouncing from a FLAT yellow day?!
+2.5-362

I see this a lot with her...and Im guessing others see it too?

I feel stupid for asking, but other than the obvious...how do you know when a bounce has cleared or when you need to increase? Should you always wait 72 hrs to see if any downward motion reappears?

I really dont want to jump the gun on an increase. But her +2.5 is freakin me out a bit.

ETA: Still she has had less fluctuations today than on most...so this is improvement, right? :?

UP FOR GRABS

I quit! cat(2)_steam

In fact, whilwe are at it why not donate all her darn syringes and insulin. Its apperantly useless to us.

Aww, bless your heart. (((Carolyn))) She'll come down.

And you can't give away your syringes after all the grief you got from the pharmacy people. ohmygod_smile

I loved the photos!

No cycle is every going to be truly "flat" if for no other reason than there's meter variance. I think what sometimes happens is that we rely on the color scheme and if the colors are different, we react like it's a big change. If you consider that there is as much as 20% variance that's due to measurement error, Latte's 285 could be looked at as a range from 229 - 341 (i.e., 285 + 56). All of a sudden, that 361 seems like much less of a bounce especially since there's pred behind it. I think with Latte's temperamental eating, fluids, and pred, she's not necessarily going to get numbers that look like the ideal flat, Lantus curve. The pred may bump numbers up, the fluids down, and food will depend on when and what Latte eats. If you look at Gabby's numbers from this morning, she had a great morning but there was still a range of about 200 points from her high to her low. What Jill is coaching me to do is to use food to not let Gabby go too low. It's the same idea as what you are doing with the Karo.

If I had to interpret, I think that string of 500s was the high before the break and today you saw a break -- a flat yellow cycle.

I'm too sleepy to try to answer your question, but Sienne's answer makes sense to me. I just popped in to say that Latte's day looked pretty darn nice!
