Yesterday's Condo

Morning all - cycle #3 of dose increase. Lanky gobbled up Fancy Feast 3%. Per yesterday's condo, I'll be looking into a vet appointment including IAA & Acro testing. I'll need a 4 hour block of time for the vet (1.5 hr commute round trip in good traffic) so we will have to consider that with our Specialized Shooting Plan. While I ponder (and read, read, read), perhaps Cycle #3 will surprise & encourage US as it is time for the roller coaster to come up out of the big dipper.

It is Caturday again, boy did this week fly by. Enjoy it everyone.

Re: 5/15 Lanky AMPS 379

I'm sorry you're so frustrated. Lanky will get there, they always do. You see lack of response, I see lots of yellow (and I'm really only looking above the gray line, where the +12 shots resumed). He hit low yellow yesterday, so blue could be coming. Most cats cruise along looking like nothing is happening at all, then all of a sudden one day BAM! Green. We don't know if Lanky's dose that will do that is 6.5 units or 65 units (kidding! though we do have a couple of acros who have gotten to that dose but most don't need that much).

FWIW, remember that the second day of a dose increase tends to be higher (due to what we "affectionately" call New Dose Wonkiness). That's why we wait at least 4 cycles before increasing the dose, and usually 5-6, to be sure we're not increasing based on scary numbers we see during NDW.

Re: 5/15 Lanky AMPS 379

Paws crossed for some better numbers today. Like Libby was saying, there is a dose out there for him.

ETA: Almost forgot the Twinkle Dust, here it is.

Re: 5/15 Lanky AMPS 379

When you have a chance, look at Randi/Max's SS. (She posted in your condo yesterday.) Randi thought about getting Max tested early on but the vets discouraged her. That issue aside, She needed to bring Max's dose up to around where Lanky's is now. And then all of a sudden, Max decided he didn't like being on insulin, any more. As others have said, having the info, regardless of the results, will let you know how aggressive you need to be.

Re: 5/15 Lanky AMPS 379 Emergency!

Ms Nubbins needs to go to emergency - blood from rectum... Lanky # falling. I am going to feed him MC & put more in timer & be back as soon as I can . test out the door.

Re: 5/15 Lanky AMPS 379 Emergency!

Lanky will be fine, you're leaving out food. Update us when you get back. Sending healing vines for Ms. Nubbins...

Re: 5/15 Lanky AMPS 379 Emergency!

Sending healing vines for you Ms. Nubbins. I hope all is well and it's just a little blood from straining.

Re: 5/15 Lanky AMPS 379 Emergency!

Sending snowflakes for Ms. Nubbins.

Lanky will be fine and what a beautiful +3.45. I am so happy to see that.

Re: 5/15 Lanky AMPS 379, +6 147

OK - I'm back. Miss Nubbins 1st (my 16 yr old, 1 kidney, CRD, history of kidney stones, spent 3 weeks in UCD hospital for that, sweet-heart kitty, she & I are the only girls in the house so we have a special bond) - blood coming from bladder not rectum, ultrasound showed thickening of bladder wall consistent with infection, got AB shot - no pills or liquids to administer, lots of blood work will be done, she's home, should be better with 24-48 hours, need to give her 100 ml fluids daily. I'll speak with regular vet Tuesday. Weehyooo!

Lanky: 2 sections of MC food from timer gone, Lanky and Otis are the likely eaters. (I split 3-oz 9% pouch 3-ways), and +6 is BLUE. Not sure what to do next. Should I feed Lanky any more or test @ +7 and then decide?

I'm still spinning...

ETA: up 20 from +6 so no additional food given.

Re: 5/15 Lanky AMPS 379, +8 130

I just got home. Very good news about Ms. Nubbins and Lanky.
Fantastic numbers for Lanky today.

Re: 5/15 Lanky AMPS 379, +10 191

Hold the course, 6.5u, +12.
I think this is very exciting. You've worked really hard and looks like dose is within reach if not here.
Often, they will go back down the dose ladder once there is a breakthrough. Not changing anything yet.
He'll keep us informed.

So let's talk about feeding the curve. Should we try to avoid green? Do we want smooth transitions throughout the cycle? Any tips or suggestions?

Thx a bunch!

PS Lanky thinks you are the best!

You have a very healthy curve behind you. Smooth is always good. I would watch for fast drops and feed those but you don't have to avoid green. He's ready for green, be nice if it was a paw into green. He might bounce from green but he also might bounce from the blue today.

Awwww (((((((((Misss nubbins))))))))))))! That had to be so scary. Im sorry you two had to go through this. Sounds like you are a match made in heaven! Tell Miss nubbins that Latte only has 1 (semi functioning) kidney, too! She is almost 18...so miss nubbins has much more cat nip, skritches, cuddles, treats, etc ahead of her!

And that Lanky!!!! Holy Cow! Great Job!
Sienne's reminder of Max is a good one. Poor house didnt get sleep for weeks (or months?)...and now they get to sleep all they want!

Hope its an exciting night for you!.

BTW, you are really good with feeding curves, I think you should follow your instincts because they are good.
Can't wait to see numbers in the morning. Lanky weighed heavy on my mind and now I feel lighter -- hope you do too.

Yes, keep holding the 6.5u dose. You could shoot .5 hr early if you like but if you want to stay on schedule go ahead with the +12.
This is not unexpected, bouncing from yesterday. Let's see how he does today. You could go back to bed after hooting.

ETA: I'm working on a project out back but will be checking in frequently.
