Hi Tena, How are the kitties getting along today? The Da Bird toy sounds like something Rusty would like. I think I'll look for it.

Ella: their relationship is like watching the waves of the ocean....it ebbs and flows.......There is more flow than ebb in terms of Curry not reacting w/her howling to Sidney's approach.
Came home from biking.....let Curry stay out in the living room and had put Sid in the bedroom.....Wanted to put my bike in my bedroom and opened the door and Sid bolted out. Curry was on the sofa and looking intently at Sid....There was some soft howling and a bit of a growl from Curry. I walked over and distracted Curry w/an activity that involved, guess what, chicken treats.....
The best approach right now seems to be when Sid is sleeping under a chair in the living room and I bring out Curry to her crate. Sid is relaxed and sleeping....not moving around.....then Curry settles down and a couple of times has gone to sleep.....Of course, I'm also having to test her too. Everytime I take her out of the crate she gets mad...
Sid is officially on STRIKE now in terms of eating at the same time as Curry. I've had them eating about 4 feet apart and Sid just doesn't want to deal w/CurryDuring meal time....Might just move her dish back from Curry and see what Sid does.
Ok...I cheated today....I did something with Curry I've never done before...but what the heck.....Curry hasn't really been interested in playing so I have a game of chase the treats (freezed dried stuff)....she has to jump up to her cat tree to get a tiny,weeny treat and then I throw the next one and she runs to get it....I do this 4-5 times....depending on much she'll stay engaged with the activity.....This time it was at +11 when I did it(yeah I know I'm not suppose to feed her 2 hours before her test/shot).....Looks like there wasn't really much of a food spike...she had an 80.....She wasn't lower than that by her behavior....just kinda sleepy today.
I just have to say that all of this is a alot of work....dealing w/the asthma is easy....the diabetes I think I've got down...but add in this re-introduction w/the kitties.....well......its gettin' old folks....sigh.

Surely one day Sid and Curry will get along....keep at it! Curry's #'s look great

Hope the two kitties get along soon. I'm having the same kind of problem with Gordo towards Enana (she could care less)...but he gets completely PO. They used to get along until she started getting sick :cry:

i hear you on the exhausting thing with kitty issues...and i'll be honest... i finally just let them do their thing...
and it's working...
don't get me wrong, i think what you are doing is wonderful, but with the kids here, surgery, etc...i just couldn't keep the cat fights top priority...
and for some reason, i think that my not paying attention made it less interesting for them.
I realize that we have a totally different situation going on here...but thank goodness they've pretty much ceased hostilities!

I love the Curry and Sid stories, did you just get Sid recently? Is that why they don't really get along?
And i think you are doing a wonderful job with Curry, it is tough sometimes, but the love that you get from the little critters makes it ALL worth it!

I think you've done such a good job with the two of them. And yes, I can only imagine how tiring and old it must get. hang in there. I think you will win the war.
