5/15 Charlie 424 AMPS, 457 @ +1, 397 @ +2, 235 @ +7

Came home to find three piles of barf. First two were mostly food, second was some liquid. That worries me a bit but he was acting normal. Ate some treats and tested at 235 so he's at an alright level.

Came home to a few more barf piles. No food, mostly yellow liquid. He's acting pretty normal but slightly off. His eyes are wide and awake but I can tell he's feeling poppy. I gave him a Cerenia pill chased down with a churu treat.

He's trying to throw up again but I'm holding him and telling him to stay strong. I don't want him to just throw up that Cerenia pill I gave him.

I'm thinking I need to try a different vet and see if they can test his pancreas. Let me know what you think. @Wendy&Neko

Just threw up again and the pill came up too. Not too much of it had dissolved so I shoved another down his throat with no treat hoping he'd be able to keep that down. He feels like crap..... ugggggghhhh! :banghead:

Just got the phone with a different vet. The soonest they can get me in is tomorrow at 2:30PM. I asked specifically about the SpecfPL test and she said she didn't think they had that exact one but they had other tests?? I'm hoping we can figure this out. I live in a rural area and I feel like all the vets here know more about dogs and cows than cats with diabetes.

Some vets have an in house test called the SnapfPL - it's a yes or no and not a number so not as good. But better than nothing. If they deal with Idexx for their labs, they have the SpecfPL.

Maybe she did say something about snap on the phone so it's probably that one. Ketones are on the rise so it seems he's headed back towards DKA. Gave his shot but he's not eating. I want to wait a little bit to allow that Cerenia to dissolve and maybe kick in a little. Then I'll try syringe feeding some food.

Do you leave any food out for him when you’re out? Tiger has pancreas problems and I can’t let his tummy get totally empty. When it’s totally empty he throws up the yellow liquid which is liver bile. The vets told me to keep something in his belly at all times, if even a bite or two of anything to prevent this. That’s why once he throws up any food, if he throws up again it will only be bile liquid.

He's drinking water at least! So hopefully that Cerenia is working it's magic.

He does usually have food out! I put down 1.5 to 2 of the 5.5 oz pate cans out twice a day for my two cats. Charlie eats a small amount right away and continues to eat small amounts throughout the day. However, he may eat less as the food sits out longer and gets older. I check on him everyday during my lunch break, maybe I should try giving less food in the morning and giving him some food mid day. Fresh food would be more enticing and ensure he eats and keeps that belly full.

I've been slowly syringe feeding some gravy food through the last couple hours. He's keeping it down. I've seen him drinking and he just came downstairs to eat!! I hope he keeps it down! For his sake, and for my carpets sake
