Good evening,

after I thought I did a furshot yesterday evening (wet fur and lantus smell) Binie went down quite a lot during the night. We even saw some blue which did not happen for some time. Maybe it was a partial fur shot? I can not imagine the depot alone can do this?

Today I injected the new dose of 3.25 IU und she stayed high all day? NDW or bouncing because of last night?
We are on the fd journey now for almost four month and I still feel completely surprised every day. I am still very far from knowing my cat.

Binie is still not eating normal again and sometimes I have to feed hc to get something into her. I really hope that changes again because I really want to improve her food and get rid of the kibble, even the low carb.

And I hope injecting becomes easier again. I don't know why it is so difficult again. And I become more and more nervous which is a vicious cycle. Maybe the bigger dose itches?

Hope everyone is having a safe and calm day! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, there’s so much to learn and every day is different. So don’t feel like you should know it all after only 4 months.
You’re doing such a great job caring for Binie.
She was probably high after that lower cycle last night.
Even with the possible partial fur shot.
Sometimes it seems we get in a rut and have more problems with injections even after all this time.
Be kind to yourself. The exhaustion is real. It takes a toll on us, too.
I’m sending you hugs and support to help you through. One day at a time is all we can do.
Wishing you a peaceful night with sweet dreams for you and Binie :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sometimes the higher numbers after a partial fur shot can be delayed to later cycles. Plus she's likely bouncing from those blues.

Keep track of whether Binie keeps complaining with the shot. Do you warm the syringe between your fingers before injecting? Some cats start to feel a sting from Lantus as the dose gets higher. That's why a few cats switched over to Levemir. Hopefully that's not the issue with Binie.

Hi Staci, thank you so much for the encouragement. Seems I thought it is a linear process and I was not prepared that after two steps forward there will be also a step back sometimes. I remember when I finally managed to inject without stress for Binie and me. I thought: "Wow, that it! We got it!" I was not prepared it becomes a struggle again. But you are right: one day at a time... I hope you have a beautiful day with not much poking and a beautiful curve for Ivy! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Wendy, thank you so much! Today there was no complaint. Maybe it has to do with her appetite. I can only inject her if she is busy with something delicious. I usually give her a little of a cat drink while injecting (aka "cat crack"). On days she doesn't feel like eating she may concentrate more on what I am doing.

I only warm the syringe between my fingers if I haven't had time to draw the insuline a bit early. On most days I try to draw the insulin 30 minute in advance to let it become room temperature. But maybe I should warm it between my fingers also. I will try that. And yes, really hope we don't have to switch because of that... And I hope that I can reduce the insulin as soon as I manage to feed her better. I am sure this stupid kibble makes her bg much higher. But not eating and just staring at the wet food wasn't an option so far.

Hope you have a beautiful day! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
