5/14, Susie, 199 AMPS

The "Start Here" sticky has a sample Lantus cycle; typically onset is +2 to +4, nadir around +6, and duration right around 12 hours I believe.

It looks like Susie's onset is right around the +2 mark most cycles, and nadir right around +6. Ignoring bounce cycles, her duration seems to be right around the 12 hr mark. For the late cycle data you do have, it's a gradual rise to where AMPS and PMPS are fairly similar. If duration was shorter you'd likely see some sharper increases and more difference between AMPS and PMPS.

I know that every cat is different but what is the average time for onset with Lantus? Also, what is the average length of time for duration with Lantus? 9 hours? I guess Susie's time for onset is +2 but what would her duration time be if she usually starts to rise after +6. I don't know how to determine this number.
Hi Susie, I was told Dolly’s onset is around +2. Yesterday I checked her at 1.5 because we were going to be gone for 2-3 hours. Anyway, she had dropped 61 points :nailbiting:. Dolly is a grazer and I always have food out up to fasting time. Most days her numbers are fairly stable. She often is lower at PMPS than the number(s) previous. I can’t make rhyme or reason for her numbers and whether they are food influenced. Her insulin seems to be working with Lantus 12 hours. Often her lowest number is at +2. I’m not sure what her nadir is . I hope you can figure it all out. Susie’s numbers look really good today. Sending hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Adrienne. That was a big drop at 1.5. I noticed yesterday that Susie's PMPS was lower than her +10 which confused me. She also seems to have been lower at +4 than +6 the last couple of days. Almost like her new nadir is +4. I don't think I will ever figure it all out but I'm glad to know that I am not the only one. Thanks for the hugs. They are also well needed on this site.

I read somewhere on this site about lower PMPS. I will try and find it again. Pretty sure it’s in one of the stickies :bookworm:

Nice day so far for Susie!

Fred varies. I think his onset is usually around +2-+3, depending on the day. He does tend to have a pretty late nadir in the AM cycle, about +9. At night, he's a bit earlier, about +6. (as evidenced by the other night!) Fred definitely has "dawn syndrome" going on, where he almost always rises fast in the last two PM hours.

Hi Kathleen. So glad to see you supporting my Susie. I think most kitties get their onsets around +2. The nadirs can vary greatly. A +9 nadir is so unusual to me. Makes me wonder how the carry through (depot) affects the next shot. Makes sense that they rise in the last two hours before a preshot but strange that Susie will rise around +9 or +10 and then lower at PMPS. Anyway, nothing is ever set in stone with this horrendous disease that takes so much from our cats and us. I'm so glad to see Fred back in the yellow. No more blacks for Fred - right? I think you have your boy back on track with the 7 units. Thanks, again, for visiting our thread.

Of course! After all the support you gave yesterday!

Agreed. I think it may have to do with how/when they eat, and the phenomenon that some cats do tend to go lower at night just naturally, for some reason.

Fingers crossed! I'm frankly shocked he hit yellow today. Thought he'd be up there for days!

Have a great evening!

Thank you and you have a safe and non-eventfull evening yourself, Kathleen.
