I saw your comments said underdosed and I am wondering what happened. Is there a reason for going from 1 to 0.25? I'm sorry if I missed a whole discussion of this, but if you are just kind of ding that because you are feeling your way, I would say don't! :lol: You want to use a consistent dose and give it a while to settle in before you change, unless, of course there is a compelling reason to change.

No...I'm a NERD!!! I freaked myself out with all that I had learned and used the begining mark as the 1 mark!!! Whatever...my computer went down, called mom who's a Nurse Prac. and she was going over the needle
lines with me. So I couldn't ask for help here,so I ran down to the vets and got all straight on times and the right amount!!!
Doodles had a good number this afternoon! Hoping that being on the right dose will be great for her, if her numbers were like that with only .25....162 is a good thing right?

So now I'm confused=. The U100 1/2 unit syringes do not have a 0.25 unit mark. The first line on the syringe is 0.0u. The next line is 0.5u. The 3rd line is 1.0u. Ignore the description on the image -- it's an image to illustrate a fat 0.5u dose.
Is this consistent with what your vet and mom told you?

hmmm, sienne, you do have a point. i saw heidi's syringes and they do have Half unit lines but they are on the other side of the unit lines...or next to it but not on it.
i think the best way for heidi to go (if you can do this with those lantus pens) is to pull out 5u's and count backward pushing the insulin back in.

Now that I have everyone confused. If you look at the pic of the needle...the very first mark(which meausre's next to nothing, mom says its the start line)is what I used.
It was a guestimate from the vet of what I could have given her. Which was what ever was in the needle part :sad: And because Lantus is long acting it was advised not to give Doodles any more until her next shot. Which is why I tested during the day. I thought she held her own pretty good while her mom had a bonehead moment
I now feel like all is in control, for the moment :shock: drinking24 and I do have to say she is sooooo goood with me. She purrs while she gets poked and during her shot...love her. cat_pet_icon
We will have to introduce you all to her brother Gotti. He's a big handsome guy (related). Maybe Doodles will let him come to a party?
