So I'm a stressed out mama bean. Just got back from dropping off my boy for his dental. I didnt get an ambg cause I couldnt give a treat. Second guessing myself that maybe I should have checked him. He didnt have insulin last night and obviously not any this am so I have to just believe he will be ok.

It should just be a cleaning unless xrays find a bad tooth. Praying for just a cleaning! :nailbiting:

I suspect it will have lost some potency. I once asked a pharmacist snout cyproheptadine. After much prodding he said that. My vet concurred. I don5 see anything that says gaba will be dangerous but I’d get some fresh as you don’t want him in pain.

I will ask for some new but try the gabapentin first and keep the new on hand if ever needed as long as I dont need it. If all she offers is onsior I will pass.

Sigh of relief! Vet called he did great! They pulled one bad tooth that had resorption. My civvie had that really bad last year pulled almost all of her teeth. So happy it was just beginning and just the one! He was waking up as we were speaking and she said he looked so cute just looking around

I can pick him up at 3pm...its only 1030am right now so have a few mins

Well, this is good news!! BIG relief!!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

We are home! He is a bit wobbly still. But doesnt want to hold still. Keeps walking to water fountain and back. Not drinking just I think trying to get bearings.

They told me to only give half his normal food cause of anesthesia. Suggestions on how long I should wait to offer food?

Vet tech told me they got a reading of she thinks 251 but couldnt tell me when and if it was exact number.

I'm not gonna poke him right now a bit nervous to give him the freeze dried treat he gets for testing anyway I'm sure he is sore.

Just looked over my invoice...they emailed it to me so didnt see it before. They gave him an injection of onsior!:mad: I'm guessing they did it in iv. He got 20 mg. He also got cerenia 10 mg...and cefazolin 100 mg ( this was the antibiotic)

I'm sure the one dose wont hurt and he doesnt have kidney disease or anything but ugh that upsets me! I'll have to make sure in future if any procedure is done I put on file no onsior...

Ok pretty sure freeze dried treat dust is kitty crack LOL. He has been licking the container I keep the treats in (it's by test sofa) so I gave him some of treat dust (I save for food toppers) and he is going nuts. Gave him just a small amount of his raw food tsp. He is clearly hungry. Dont want to overdo though and him get sick

Yeah for the dental done and dusted (with chicken dust)! After anaesthesia, I would feed a tsp every 30 minutes. I also tested when she got home, and again at PMPS. Some anaesthesia induction drugs lower the BG, so those two tests would tell me if that was an issue.

I did test at +9 and planned on testing again at pmps...

I have given him a couple snacks but havent been feeding that often. Yikes poor kitty I'll give snacks now...may mess with pmps a tad but at this point I suppose we are in recovery mode. Should I give insulin tonight? See what pmps and then decide?

Ok I know I've shot a number in 60s before but with the anesthesia on board I'm not willing to risk it.

Anyone know how long it will last in his system?

Looks like you decided to skip? How long since the anaesthetic, any idea? How is he doing? Eating okay?
He is eating acting pretty ravenous but I am doing smaller amounts so as not to upset stomach.

He was given it I think around 9am ish so it's been a little over 12 hours. His eyes are still big as saucers so he is definitely under the influence

@Bandit's Mom I think you misunderstood thinking he got insulin around 930 ish. I meant he got the anesthesia around then. That's my best guess based on when they called to tell me about bad tooth and had already done the cleaning. He was still under cause they needed my permission to pull tooth since we didnt know he had a bad one.

No no. I know you skipped last night and this morning. When you said it's been 12 hours since his anesthesia at 9:30am, I wondered if it was not yet PM shot time.
