5/12 Shakes-bad morning

Morning everyone,

well what a way to start the day!
I go to shoot up my cat with insulin, he jerked and I got myself!
Very quickly ate a chocolate bar...there was 1.5 units left in the needle,
but the 1 unit could have come out when I threw the needle in the sick!

SOOO...I waited and shot him up with 2 units to be safe..
and I dont feel well now because I ate the chocolate...now I know why he sleeps
alot when his sugars go up!

Lesson learned...always have chocloate around for humans just in case! :roll:

Don't mean to be a fear monger, but I wonder if you should put in a call to your doctor. Insulin is serious stuff.

but that could be because I ate a chocolate bar at 5am

Dang. I've pricked myself before by accident but no insulin. Let us know how you're doing. Finger and paws crossed you and Shakes are feeling better.

Thanks evryone, feeling better, went to our company doctor
sugar was a little high so i guess the chocolate worked

I will say he was an angel tonight when I shot him up,
I think I scared the poor baby half to death when I screamed this morning
Also his numbers are high
I hope and pray that this does not set him back...we shall see..

Funny story. I have a diabetic friend who realized her blood sugar was dangerously low while she was in the supermarket. She went over to the open bins of candy and started swallowing it by the handfuls. A young clerk came up and said, "Mam, Mam, we sell that by the pound..."

Glad your'e ok! I guess its good to keep Karo syrup and honey on hand not just for sugar cats but for sugar cat mommies who might accidentally shoot themselves up! :mrgreen:
Hope Shakes will get back into better numbers tomorrow.
