yesterday's condo

good morning!

well we are now on day 20 of the clindamycin. last dose is tonight. so for 19 days i shoved pills wrapped in pill pockets down his throat. last night he decided those pill pockets are the best thing he's ever had and he gobbled them out of my hand. this morning i set them down and he gobbled them up. i tried multiple times at the beginning to get him to eat those and he acted repulsed by the taste. now he loves it. jeesh. cats.

he's already down for the morning nap. i enjoyed his cheering while the DH got his food ready: purrrr puuuuurrrrr meow puurrrrr purrrrr meow the entire time. i think his purr is so loud because he has his mouth open a little bit. then he ran for the eating spot, but only 6 inches ahead of the Bean feet to make sure we don't lose our way. punkin is a very entertaining little monkey.

so i think i'm getting the hang of things (and now that i said it he'll change) it seems like he stays in blues on 7.0. every time we bump up to 7.25 he's in greens down to 40-50, then i adjust downward to 7.0 and we're in flat blues. it's a great mystery. i'm going to try to fine tune it next time by shaving instead.

Good morning Julie and Punkin! Sounds like he is being a sweet kitty today. Of course, he is into the whole pill pocket thing on the last dose. I have had to do that to Tarragon for the last month and he is at least to a point where I don't have to swaddle him.

We hope you have a great day! Sunshine is a good way to start it out. Gray, cloudy, and misty here in Oklahoma, but I won't complain since we need the rain.

Way to go, Punkin... befuddling the bean on both pill pockets and juice dosages? you get an A+ in cattitude today!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

Hi Julie. Nice blue start to Punkin's day. :smile: Hehe, on leading DH to the food dish. I have a civvie that drives me nuts, but running in front of me, then stopping suddenly. Over and over. He anticipates where I'm going. :-D

Are you using the duck and pea Pill Pockets? I didn't think Checks would accept them, because he loved the original,
but he also loves them.
Yay on the nice weather. We have it too, but just for today, so I'm gonna get out and enjoy it.

Oh, Punkin...what a cat you are!

It sounds like you need to do dose adjustments like we need to do with Trix...she doesn't seem to hold decreases very well either if we go to quickly, so we're going to have to go the shaving route, too...but first we have to take her back up yet again.

How is it that you don't trip on Punkin with him being under foot.. That's too funny.. You know now that the pill pocket meds are done, you're going to have to give him empty ones or you might just find yourself without a digit the next time you go to feed him.. :lol:
Punkin is also starting out the day very sunshiny-ish..
Tommy is the only one that doesn't seem to be overly excited about the whole thing..

oh he totally tries to trip you. my husband was walking with a waddle this morning because punkin was in the middle of the road and he was stepping around punkin! :lol:

poor little guy - the Feed Me Contract includes the clause 2b) punkin finishes any food that Anya leaves behind. only i just gave her the rest of the high carb the vet tech opened so i picked up the dish before he got to it. i got The "You've Violated The Feed Me Contract" Look.

he's going the wrong way. punkin! read the manual! down boy!

What a nice start for Punkin!

Ugh! I have to feed Willy separately in the bathroom off my kitchen otherwise he will eat EVERYONE'S (including the dog's) food.. not just their leftovers. He eats so darn fast, he can just about manage too. We added a ball to his bowl like we did with our other kitty but instead of slowing him down.. now he just walks around in circles while he is eating... at least he's getting some exercise though! I think Willy is part Snorlax :lol: :lol:

never heard of the ball trick, but i could see the point. but then you'd have an oogie ball.

Snorlax is the only accurate thing I could think of comparing him to!!! :lol: :lol:

We use a study, fairly heavy, rubbery-type dog ball. I am sure a normal type ball could work but we were concerned there could be something in the rubber or whatever that could be toxic and since it was most likely going to be licked (and is exposed directly to food) we just wanted to be safe. I REALLY wanted a nylon ball since nylon passes easier if it gets swallowed but I kept forgetting to look for one online (limited stuff where I live) so when I finally remembered while at Petsmart I just got something that would work (I literally forgot 3 weeks in a row despite having it written down).

I wash it before I feed them cos it gets crusty and smells like cat spit. Yuck.

:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: Isn't it so much funny racing around picking up all the other cat dishes so the sugarbaby doesn't get something he/she is not supposed to? Mike and I spend an inordinate amount of time standing guard over the civvies eating so Miss Gracie doesn't avail herself of extra carbs and calories. What life??? :lol: :lol: :lol:

Hope you have a marvelous day and Punkin comes down. And I think your idea of shaving is a really good one...it's amazing sometimes the difference one drop makes.

giving the ears a break cuz, just thinking, i don't think we have any worries of hypo today. i'm curious to know if it went down after the 209, but i had to go out and by the time i got back we were at +8. not much point now.

punkin's been 8 cycles on the 7.0 and i'm thinking i should increase it back up to 7.25 in the morning. Can somebody give me some feedback on if that's a good idea or if i should wait the 10 cycles to be sure? thanks mucho!!

I think you have room to take the dose up tomorrow, if you can monitor. I'm hoping that all this yellow means he's going to drop tonight and prove me wrong, though. :lol:

Julie, just when I think I'm starting to get this, I always learn something from you. When you said you were going to fine tune by shaving, my first thought was huh? I thought you were referring to shaving your legs. I'm just going to chalk it up to a long day.
 
well . . . i do need to shave my legs, but i didn't think i was talking about it here! :lol: can you see them from there? they are kinda bad and i did wear shorts today anyway! ;-)
