since i need a kick in the backside to go get productive, i'll open today's loose lips.

kitty wrestling has commenced in front of me. well, that was quick. in the time it took me to write that punkin won the battle and just chased anya downstairs.

wonder why he seems to feel better around 200 than lower? he's mr perky this morning. and now i need to go shower and get dressed - it's 10am! :o

You have to post a kitty video now Julie!!! Glad your beautiful orange boy won

Henry is coming out of his shell a tiny bit more every day. He's very submissive. He was going for the litterbox in the living room (yah I know) this morning and had to walk by her. She swatted him a few times. He immediately fell on his side and layed there frozen. Then when she was gone he went to hide. He had to come back later. There is another litterbox in the spare bedroom but its not as fun to dig in I guess.

Aahh....great pic of Butthead....so easy to fall in love with that boy!

Well..this is about FD but I thought it might get more comments here than on our condo. I've been meaning to bring it up a long time. We use the BD 30g ultra fine lancets and out of the blue a few months ago, we realized they are tapered like an insulin needle and that if you are doing manual pokeys, the side that is tapered or hollowed out should be facing up...makes for quicker, easier pokes. If you are using a lancet device, perhaps they only go in one way and so you don't have to think about it.

On kitty wrestling, as I'm typing this, Gracie is lying on her back on the flagstone (we're on the enclosed patio) and Tobey comes barrelling up and plops down about 3" from her head. She scootches over just enough to reach out and whack him on the head and then scootches back. Hope everyone has a great day. Mike goes back to TBP tomorrow for a weekend trip    but will be back Mon a.m. and I still have Mon off...so one more day to play together after today.

Hi, just stopping by to say hello! I still don't have a camera yet and can't wait to get another one to take pics of Maggie!
M.J. that is a really sweet pic of Butthead. I just want to pick him up and hug!
Marje, I would love to see a video of Gracie and Tobey doing their wrestling. Of course, when the camera comes out, they get gun shy! With the lancets, I have been having so much trouble with the lancet pen, that I started doing it manually and have better luck
Karrie, that is so funny with Henry and Victoria. So it is safe to say Victoria is the Alpha kitty or boss of the house?
Hi Julie, I notice Maggie seems to feel better when she's a little on the high side. When she's low, she is lethargic or like a kitty that has had one too many niptunis!

aw, that's a cute picture of willie - what a sweetie. they're such angels when they're asleep.

i use the lancet device, but i have to ask why it would matter which side is up? i mean, if you flip the cat around then up becomes down, right? it doesn't seem like there's a just right way to put them in, although i did notice there was a difference and wondered if it mattered.

anybody else have a cat that's a compulsive licker? ohmygod_smile punkin drives me nuts with it. i'm sitting here with him on my lap and the laptop on my knees, and my arm is right in target distance. i keep yelling no and pulling my arm away, but it doesn't even phase him. he's purring happily away and every time my arm returns his little tongue comes out like my arm is a magnet. he would almost do it nonstop if i let him.

went out and got an australian tree fern to put in our new bathroom. i had a giant window put in at the end of the tub (which the contractor said was stupid, without saying it) and now am trying to artfully cover the window while still having lots of light. i made sheer curtains and hung them but it's not enough at night. i might make more panels and bunch them up more because i have more fabric, but the fern will also help. it's just gorgeous.

here's a pic of one: australian tree fern

and from yesterday's condo, here's black headed grosbeak

and evening grosbeak

binks flexin' for da laydeez!!

(btw...binks' ear only bleeds with the angled part of the lancet facing up...we freehand)

Is this cool or what? Cats of War:

The U.S. military has long used cats in special operations under the top-secret Covert Anti-Terrorism Stealth (CATS) program. Smarter and stealthier than dogs, cats are also more agile: They can climb trees and leap across buildings to gather intelligence. Studies show they can survive nine times as long as human soldiers.

of course, we all knew how smart cats are.

actually, i should qualify that - nothing about war is cool - the smart cats are what is cool. *whew*

I love everyone's pictures! I'm so used to seeing avatar-sized pictures of everyone's kitties that it's nice to see bigger images.

Julie, Punkin cracks me up with his licking! When Junior is hungry in the morning, he'll nibble on my nose to wake me up. Nowhere else, just my nose. But It's not the nibbling that wakes me up, it's his nasty breath.

bad cat breath. hmmm, let me see if there's any oogier way to be woken up. *checking google*

nope. oogie cat breath on your nose is #1 on the worst ways to be woken up.
