Yesterday's Adventure

I'm later than I intended today - very hectic around here. Stair guys were here finishing up (the railing looks wonderful), our contractor friend was here doing some yard work for me, I had to help Mark get his stuff together for his trip (his medications, etc.), and of course, Cinco was back in the lagoon. :D That cat is going to have webbed feet pretty soon, but I like it, I like it (anti-jinx, of course)! Today's surf was nice and safe and relaxing - just what I needed. Good boy, Cinco. That's just how Mama wants you to do it (except could you maybe bring the PS down just a skosh (we beans - never satisfied )?)!

I thought this was going to be another bad day for Minka. She didn't want to eat and was kind of huddled, looking uncomfortable, so I gave her some SEB, and half an hour later she was unhuddled and eating! I don't know if the SEB could have worked that fast, or if she would have been better anyway, but I was very relieved. She ate all her breakfast and has had two small snacks. Win! :)

Sasha has eaten fairly well, even coming downstairs in search of a snack. :)

Harvey has been set on whine today - constantly wanting his food dish filled. I don't know if I had mentioned here my quest for the perfect dish for him? He has developed this habit in the past year or so of licking his food across the plate and over the edge. o_O Drives me crazy. The tray under his dish is always a mess. I've tried all kinds of plates and bowls and even ordered one online that was supposed to solve the problem. Fail. The basic idea was right - higher in the back. However, the bowl itself was too small. I don't think he liked the enclosed feeling it gave him. Also, where the bottom and sides meet is almost a right angle, and when food gets pushed there, he can't get to it. Then I had an inspiration as I was cleaning out my cat supply cabinet. I took the base from a water dispenser. The bowl was round with sides about 1.5 inches high and sloped from bottom to sides, and then there's a slope in the back up to where the water reservoir would go, and 1.5 inch sides there. It's a little big, but it completely solved the problem! :woot: I'm feeling pretty clever and proud of myself.

My contractor's brother is something of an artist and a while ago he asked me for some pictures of my cats so he could paint them. I never heard any more and forgot all about it. Last night he came to bowling with something for me. I almost cried right then and there. It was a perfect watercolor of our GA Civvie, Kisa. See for yourself how well he did. Here's the painting and the photo it was taken from:

I can't wait to see the ones he does of the other kitties.

Gotta go get my shoes on so I can take DH to the airport. BIC solo starts shortly. :nailbiting:

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Carla & Callie and Rose & Zoey. :bighug: Special prayers for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Marje's DM, Chris' DM and Elise's DM.

Angela is still in our thoughts, missing her beloved Blackie. :bighug:

On a happier note, cheers to Zeke and Eddie on their OTJ Trials!

Great report on everyone today....yay for green surfing and happy appies! I'm sorry Minka gave you a scare at first, but hooray that she turned it around. Kisa's portrait is absolutely beautiful. I would have started bawling on the spot! How sweet that your contractor's brother wants to do pictures of your babies....I don't know many guys would admit to doing kitty portraits! Good luck with BIC solo....I know it will be tiring, but you'll do great. Safe travels to DH!

Cinco is looking great. I'm glad the girls ate for you today. How cool on the bowl for Harvey. That is such a great painting. He did a great job. Thanks for thinking of Callie. Sending safe travel prayers for your DH.

Yep a great report all around! Go Cinco! Hooray for good appys too! (((Harvey))) He must be related to Tiger LOL! That is a beautiful portrait of Kisa!

Looks like an all around great day at your house! I absolutely LOVE the picture and am a bit jealous I don't have someone near me to do one of Skoots.....

Hopefully Cinco and Skooter can play in the safe end of the lagoon.....

Ahhhhhh, solo BIC! You can do it!

That cat is going to have webbed feet pretty soon, but I like it, I like it (anti-jinx, of course)!

I just love this line.:p

vines for your kitties....

I do stained glass, and I like his imagery for creating a pattern.... I just stole his picture. o_O
I can refine it for glass .

Thanks for the visits, Amy, Carla, Ruth, Molly and Rhiannon.

@Rhiannon, if you do Kisa in Stained glass, I will have to drive to NM and buy it from you!!! Fair warning!!! I adore stained glass. If we ever build a house, it will have a lot of stained glass windows.

Well, I'm pretty sure I did not screw up my first PM shot as BIC (anti-jinx). Shot 1.5 hours late because that's when I got home from the airport. It doesn't seem to have hurt Cinco, but I'm thinking if I could have gotten home sooner we would have had a blue PMPS. ;) I will take my time moving shot time back to 6:15 - I like the idea of getting up for a 7:15-7:30 am t/f/s much better!! :p:joyful: Cinco did react like what are you doing? when I took him into the bathroom to do his shot and DH wasn't there! It's not like I haven't done it before, Cinco!

Minka ate all her dinner!!!!!

Sasha ate most of hers, requiring plenty of seasoning. She also wore herself out following me around the upstairs as I was doing some organizing and cleaning! It takes a lot of effort to hop around on those three little legs!

The "new" dish continues to be a success with Harvey. Of course, it contains food, so it has a lot going for it from the start. :joyful: Or I should say "contained food"!

Well, I'd better fix my own dinner, and then it's time to start preparing everyone's meds.

Congratulations on being the BIC!! And actually getting the shot into the cat too...that's important....LOL

Wonderful to hear the girls ate dinner tonight without much fuss too!

What a wonderful gift....the painting is beautiful ....and I'm with you....I could live in a house made of nothing but stained glass. I love it!

Surf safe tonight Cinco if you head back into the lagoon!! China's not swimming tonight, so maybe you two can spend the evening tending the campfire and leading the other kitties in some rounds of Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree and Row, Row, Row your boat

Yup. Got the jus in the cat. Going down. :)

Chris, I don't know if Cinco is going to make it to the lagoon or not, but either way is okay with me.

Yes, Deanna. Kisa was a gorgeous cat. We thought he was a she when we got him (so did the breeder :oops:). The vet took our word for it and when we took him in to be fixed, opened him up to do a spay. Ooops! We kept the name because although it sounds feminine, I don't think it is gender specific. It means kitten in Russian (he was a Siberian, like Minka). That was 15 years ago and they still talk about it at our vet's office. :joyful:

DH called to tell me he made it safely to his folks' house (first leg of trip to Bolivia) and he and I discussed shot time. He said if I want to shoot at 7 or 7:30 all week, we can work back to normal after he gets back, 'cause he's working from home Wed-Friday. What a great guy!

Minka came down after dinner, as usual, and parked on the loveseat in the family room, ready to watch TV with her daddybean and get her fluids. I don't have the heart to tell her he isn't here, but I think she's figuring it out... :( Right now she is nibbling on the snack I set out near her a little while ago. :woot: I'd better get her fluids set up before she decides to head back upstairs. I don't rate as high with her as my DH does. Daddy's girl. He spent more time saying goodbye to her than he did to me! :p
