Long day yesterday! Brought Noodle to my parent's for Mother's Day and she spent the whole day hiding. It broke my heart to have to drag her out from under the couch each time I needed a test. For the first time in 100 days (has it been that long??), it took over a half hour to get PMPS done. She was just fine the second we got home and now I'm worried about my mom having to care for her for an entire week when I leave the 29th!

She started well today and spent a decent amount of time in numbers below the renal threshold since last night, which is nice. The bounce started, so maybe she dipped lower last night, but I'm hoping it won't last long. After thinking about the advice from @Wendy&Neko, @Vyktors Mum, and @julie & punkin (ga), I decided to shave the 1.5u dose rather than wait for 3x under 50. The fact that the 1.5u brings her down so late in the cycle consistently just makes me very nervous for days where I can't monitor closely. I may end up back there, but hopefully after some successful experiments with food with a higher carb content that I can use to keep her safe. Other than the sugar dance driving me a little batty, Noodle is doing well. Playing and purring and doing me the honor of giving me a faceful of fur every time she headbutts me. Sending vines to everyone in L&LL who needs them, especially Zoey for a speedy recovery and Blackie's family :bighug:

sounds like a good plan!

Is your mom coming to your place while you're gone, or is Noodle going there? I'm just wondering if there is a way to acclimate her before you go.

She's going there. She's been fine there in the past (and we lived there for 6 years!), but something about yesterday with the whole (loud) family there really freaked her out! I'll probably go stay there with her for a night or two before I leave to help her adjust.

That's a really good idea.

I was just thinking if there is a room without a bed or furniture she can hide under/behind it might make life easier for your mom. Beds are the worst because cats like to go right to the middle if they don't want to be touched and you can't reach them from either side. Just something to think about.

It sounds like it was most likely all the extra noise that bothered Noodle. I bet things will be different when she's staying with your mom. I hope she settles into the new dose.

As long as they remember to keep the bedroom doors closed there's only one hiding spot and I told her last night she will need to block it off for that week! Sorry, Noodle, no couch for you!

I'm sure Noodle will do fine at your parents' house once it's quieter. :) Though I agree, blocking off the obvious places she can hide will definitely help your Mom when it comes to test and shot times!

Her spreadsheet's looking good too - nice to see most of the red numbers gone in the last week or so...and loads of yellow and blue! :) Looks like she's not bouncing as high or for as long now (anti-jinx). :)
