Hello everybody! It's me... Mannie. My bean said I get to write my condo today, cuz, well.... IT IS MY 3 YEAR ON-THE-JUICE ANNIFURSARY!

Can you believe it??? 3 years for me. I am sooooooo excited, cuz well... I am now healthy and happy and content and so much better than I was before they told me I had FD. I didn't even know what that was.... I did know though that I was scared, and hungry all the time, and so skinny.... the vetties at first didn't know what was wrong with me. They thought maybe I had a bad heart... :shock: nah! that wasn't it - I could have told them that! nuthin' wrong with my ticker..... then they thought I had IBD. :shock: nah.... that wasn't it. I knew my tummy and stuff were just fine, but that the fuds weren't working for me.... I'd eat and eat and nothing made me feel full, ya know? Then they thought I needed x-rays and ultrasounds and stuff.... :shock: nah that wasn't it. Them x-rays and stuff looked good. shesshhhhh!!! One day they said we gots to do my blood work, again. :roll: :roll: By now I was really irritated with all them pokies... but hey! guess what!! There it was!: a BG of 683!! :o :o scary! And so began my journey. My bean tried so hard... but we didn't know about fdmb, and went through 3 hypos :cry: , and rocky rollercoaster rides :sad: , until a year and a half later someone took my bean under her wing and showed her all these great folks in LL! :-D :cool: :cool: You guys saved me! I LUBS YOU ALL! so... today we celebrate! A party at my house - A BIG PARTY! I am SO HAPPY. Thank you all for being there for me and my bean.

5/10 What went down, as remembered by the Nanner King, that's me:
fed mini meals @ ps, +1, +2, +3: AM CYCLE:Merrick Surf and Turf 3%, PM CYCLE: Wellness Turkey 4 %. Kitties: these fuds are GOOD... finally the bean gets it!
amps 244: 56th cycle on this dose -- pretty yellow! but my bean sighed....
+2 321 oh oh.... bean not too happy....
+4 263 phew - made yellow again: SWEET! bean skeptical....
+7.5 281 bean is muttering something about wrong way - it is?
+11 300 bean made a face.... and sighed alot... and said my name many times.....
pmps 296: 57th cycle on this dose -- I am so glad I made yellow again... maybe bean will be happy now....
+2 315 :? bean said what I thinks is a bad word....
+4 250 oooooooo, my best number yet! bean was sorta impressed... picky isn't she.....
amps 264 : 58th cycle on this dose: new pen hey - look! i got new juice!

ok. so there it is. :-D I thinks i did OK yesterday... i dunno.... my bean kept saying maybe tomorrow, whatever that means. :roll: I think yellow is a pretty color. I mean what's all the fuss over greens and stuff. She said sumthin' about more juice. what???? :shock: more juice???? :shock: :shock: I don't think I want a stinkin' dosecrease. sheshhhhh - I made green the day before, remember?? You mean I gots to do that everyday? OK..... I will try..... :razz: :razz: :razz:

My bean says I hafta write about my day too. well let's see..... when I woke up there were nanners. :cool: then i got poked : OW!, and then I ate. really good fuds: salmon or sumthin', I think.... The bean had that camera, so no fuds dance for her. :twisted: so then uh lets see.... more nanners. :cool: :-D I had to whack the civvies though, my nanners had civvie scent after breffis. NOT COOL! :evil: and then i took a nap, on my nanners. SWEET! so yeah, that was my day. Darn cool huh. oh yeah... somewhere in all that I gots a couple of shots. OW again.

Thanks everybody for being there for me. Thanks to my bean for letting me write my condo. That was cool. so - PARTY today!! let's celebrate my good fortune - on the juice, and lovin' it!

With all frivolity and humor and attempted wit aside -- today is a very special day for Mannie and I. We began this journey 3 years ago, floundered for a year and a half before we found fdmb. We were so scared, uneducated back then, fearful every day..... I cannot thank Chris from Chris and Chloe enough for bringing me here. I am eternally grateful for each and every one of you. You all have made my guy happy, healthy, whole again. I thank all of you who held my hand, supported me, told me when I screwed up, laughed when I needed it, questioned me when I strayed, help guide the ship, and believed. Thanks to all of you who took the time to read Mannie's daily sagas. I know for a fact that without you - all of you - that Mannie would not be here today. For that alone I cannot thank you enough.

Have a great day everyone! I have my DGS today, and know I won't be able to get to many condos. Know that I am thinking of you all.

Happy Annifursary Mannie and Michelle. It is neat reading about your diagnosis and finding FMDB. So glad you did. That must have been crazy the first year and a half. I often wonder how Maverick's diagnosis would have been different if we hadn't found FMDB - before his treatment began. a BG of 683 :o :shock: ohmygod_smile Glad all is well in Mannie-land today.

I know with your DGS you don't get to visit as often. I have been keeping myself much busier than before so I don't get to visit as often either. I'm so glad there is the LL thread where I can still feel connected and get around to visiting a handful of condo's each day. You guys really are like a second family here. Loved the pics of Mannie on your FB the other day. He is such a handsome boy.

Happy 3-year On The Juice Day.

Given the story of what you and Mannie went through, Mannie's resilience is remarkable. (And how did the vet's miss that kind of BG?) I hope Mannie decides to celebrate with a pretty blue/green surf today.

It s amazing how ignorant we can all be... that first year and half was insane.... and I knew not better. aiyee! I wish I had found this place when we started.... well, it is what it is, and we are so much better than we were then.

Everyone always asks the question: how did they miss that BG? When I first took him there he tested at 200. and as we all know - a vet considers anything under a 250 to be "normal", so they didn't really question it. and me? ignorant again.... it was almost 3 months before they retested blood - by then he was well into FD, it took a long time to even get him out of the 600's.... omg.

karrie - I know - you guys are ALL second family.

You're a really amazing person, Michelle, and I'm glad Mannie is doing so well. I had no idea what you went through before finding FDMB. I was only without them for two weeks after diagnosis and that was hard enough, but a year and a half? I think we should all start a campaign in our communities where we visit as many vets as we can and pass out information about FDMB so they can have it on hand when they get a patient with FD.

what a saga! 683?!? i'm just glad mannie survived all of that! what a tough kitter. must be the nanner-pheromones kept him ticking.

i tell every vet i encounter, but so far none have been interested in FDMB. my guess is it's a control factor - who's in charge? the vet is in charge. take away their special extra-knowledge and they might feel pretty threatened.

are you still with that same vet, michelle?

And, yes, Michelle you have such a positive and calm approach to this journey. Both you and Mannie are role models here.

Michelle, I have to agree with every one else this morning, coming over to Mannies condo is kind of like reading a good book every morning with the sunshine coming in on your face while drinking your fav cup of joe.. It's always fun to read about Mannies journey and the silly things he and his civvies do..

Spot and I would like to say Happy Annifursary to Mannie and Michelle! You guys have been a constant on the board and you are just wonderful for helping everyone out. I know this is bitter sweet....no one wants our kitties to be sugar kitties, but look at the friends we have made and the support we get from it. Oh, Mannie....nice to see that you are blue today

Wow - 3 years on the juice - congratulations on getting a diagnosis and starting treatment! Mannie - you are quite the inspiration - as is your bean.

Mannie - you gots to write your own condo - wow - I'm impressed!! You is a very lucky boy. My mama has banned me from the computer, unless she is sitting right here :roll: I guess she was unhappy about me ordering more nanners and a few other things.... :YMSIGH: a girls gotta do, what a girls gotta do! :oops: I'm ready for a party to celebrate your 3 years on the juice and today is my 1 month annifursary for being back on the juice. We can grill that too. so yeah.... we is ready!! By then this annoying tiny human will be back home, and the house is ours!

Hey Zoe - I know! I had to promise my bean I'd be good before she let me put paws to the 'puter... We will celebrate your month too - just cuz we should! psst..... did you get lots of nanners and stuff before you gots busted?

Thanks Patty, Julie, Tena, Roni, Iorwen, Squirrel, Deb, Claudia, Ann, and Sherry, for the visit, for the well wishes, for being there. It is kinda funny - I too have this ridiculous voice that goes through my head when Mannie puts paws to the keyboard. :shock: :lol: Deb bittersweet is such an on target statement. I feel that everyday. I am ever so grateful that he is still with me, still doing those Mannie things that we all laugh about, so happy with my fd family, sad in a sense that we are still dancing that dance. Happy that he is dancing it fairly well. As Iorwen said: "This place is wonderful, I thank the gods for finding it every day."

Julie - yep on the vet. I am still with the same one. They have done a great job, for the most part, with everything else. As my vet admitted to me about 6 months into our journey: she does not know lantus, but does know diabetes (which is true). Once I learned what I needed to know I did educate them. They have now been more than supportive, pass on fdmb to new fd kitties, call me with questions, and let me call the shots as far as the FD goes. I that regard I am grateful - they support my dosing decisions. My regret?: that they didn't let me know about home testing from the beginning (why - I am not certain), and that I was so ignorant of what I could do to help Mannie. In my opinion - I bear the burden of his first year and a half. 683. omg! he spent so much time being black.... those 3 hypos: i remember every single detail... scared to death of what I'd find when I got home from work. well - all learning experiences, all my burden. but ya know: Mannie is happy healthy content now, never to return to what was. :cool: :-D :-D

Oh wow, Michelle! I just got home and catching up on condos, and you and Mannie have been thru so much before finding LL. And that Vet with the high bg! I definitely agree that your condo is the most fun, and you always take time to acknowledge us and our kitties. It is so entertaining hearing Mannie's morning routine with his nanners and whacking the civvies. Have you ever thought about writing childrens' books as you are such a good writer? Happy 3 Year Annifursary on the Juice!

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Bear Man's twin brother. It warms my heart to see Mannie doing so well. Your condo is a must-read every day. I think of it as sort of the community gathering place. Thanks for all that you do.

This weekend, when I have more free time, Champ will find his voice and talk for himself. He insists he doesn't need me to do his talking for him, I tell embarrassing stories, and he wants to make new friends and party like a rock star. His words, not mine. He also hurt me deeply when he called me a control freak!! Image!! :lol:

Mannie, my man!!! Finally, my paws are hittin the keys! Count on me tonight. I got wheels if anyone needs a lift and I'll bring the hookah (tobacco free, thankyouverymuch, tea blend only). The bean didn't really think I was going to wait until this weekend to holla, did she?

Happy 3 year annifursury, Mannie!! Michelle, you have done such an amazing job taking care of Mannie and you have such a great sense of humor, even when Mannie doesn't want to cooperate. I love reading your condos and I appreciate all the support you have given to me and Simon. I can't imagine what I would have done if I had not found this site right after Simon was diagnosed. I am so thankful that I followed y'alls advice and questioned what my vet told me to do in order to take care of Simon.

I also hear Mannie's voice in my head when I'm reading his words and he sounds so cute.

Mannie, all I'm waiting for is to see a video of your fud dance!! Your annifursury is a perfect time for you to show off. Great numbers today!

What an amazing, inspiring condo today...oh wait....that is every day! You always inspire all of us Michelle. Truly...no wonder your condo is the most visited because you have set an incredible standard of optimism and you keep keeping Mannie safe and healthy and happy. We all need to thank you for how you keep our spirits up...always managing to get to everyone's condo even with DGS...always encouraging words and support. You are the heart and soul of LL!!

Today, Mike, Gracie, and I wish Mannie a long, long, healthy life and a future at the Falls. He so deserves it and so do you.

Hi Michelle, I love reading your condo and seeing the pics of your hikes, and I so much enjoy Mannie's personality. Mannie and Stu sort of evolved the cooking thing as they went along and Mannie has taken it to new heights. I think that Stu (another kitty with FD for 4+ years of blind shooting before finding FDMB) might be cooking in celebration of Mannie's anniversary tonight, too.

yaHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! What a party! This is so cool. My bean let me build a big cookout fire outside - with grills and everything. Thanks everybody for coming - we gots lots of good fuds, and a fireplace pit for afterwards. I really hope we can spend some time at the fireplace and just tell stories and stuff. It's my fav.... we can sip sangria, or niptinis, or niptecates or micro brews... and just be friends!

I am a bit overwhelmed - thanks to everyone! Marje, Steph, Nicole, Georgia, Patty, Sherry, Melissa, Linda, Ann: you guys are the best. Ann - funny thing you should mention writing - it was my HS passion, not too sure why I didn't pursue it. Found art and art history at the same time - it won out. And Linda - that soft spot is a shared one.... patty: I love it!: it's all in the fun which makes FD, and what we do here easier... and to everyone else - thank you so much. you have made my day, truly. I normally would answer each post individually, but am overwhelmed by the sheer volume of it all tonight. I hope one group "HI ALL" will be enough....

Now it's my turn to visit everyone.... after I test the Nanner King once again. it seems that he has plans for tonight. Why not?! It's his day - I'm just along for the ride. :-D :-D

oh wow - there's Ella! When I think of Mannie's story I think of you and Stu. I know you shot blind for a number of years too. Crazy times back then. I am so grateful for this place. Stu will always be special, him, his personality, all that went into the cooking. That was such a joint effort. I still see them sitting on the porch at your place, coming up with new recipes, munching on kitty treats. what fun! and the cinnamon cake... and then the KTSS. very cool stuff!

Michelle, just like Patty, I have a voice in my head for Mannie when I read his posts. Too funny. And yes, Mannie, civvie scent on nanners is totally uncool! Again, Congratulations to you both. You know, we all should celebrate that we found this site. There are a lot of kitties alive and doing well because of the loving people here. Gus is one of them :-D

What a Party! Mannie, go mingle w/ all your guests your sous chefs will finish up in the kitchen. I brought salmon puffs to roast over the fire when it gets dark and the singing starts. 113 @ +3, went back to the LC (5%) and will test him@ +4. what a glorious day for the Nanner King. We may not have made green, but we were close, and well.... Mannie is one happy dude. We just finished mini meal #3, amongst much purring and face washing. nanners are currently being inspected... :roll: :lol: :lol:

Hi Barb - yes, I do love the people here. truly - all such giving and caring souls. and yes on getting him diagnosed. I knew so little... the key here was a vet who read initial blood work, with a BG at 200 and attributed it to vet stress. the rest is history: cardio stuff (what a waste of $$$), to ultrasounds, to xrays to ibd, to this to that.... after 4 months they decided that they needed to go back to square one: blood work. and the rest is history. there is alot I could say here - alot I attribute to my just not knowing any better. :roll: :roll: :roll: but - RIGHT YOU ARE!: look at him now! awesome!!

Hi bev - :lol: :lol: :lol: on the long line. I agree - we should all celebrate finding this site. It did save my guy. His last hypo was a bad one... won't ever forget it, and it brought me here. there are alot of kitties who are now doing well thanks to all. Mannie is one of them too. :-D

So nice to see Mannie celebrating with such wonderful numbers! You guys have been such an amazing and unwavering source of support... I truly don't know where we would be without you! ((hug)) mannie's progress and good health is a testament to the value of what we do here, and to your amazing commitment to him and your other furbabies. whether he goes off the juice next week, next month, next year or next whenever, he is an inspirsation regardless, as are you!
