Good morning! Another curve day for Cargo as I'm finally home from work. His numbers have been high and it's looking like time for another increase. Boo! But so goes the roller coaster. Hope all the beans are well and the kitties are surfing some lovely greens! :bighug:
 
Thanks Karen! He's staying fairly consistent, but obviously I'd like to see some more blues and greens in the mix. It's so hard to tell what's causing the higher numbers as it seems so many things can affect his BG. For example, the landscapers came today and now the house is full of pollen, despite my closing it all up - and since Cargo is asthmatic I think it's raising his numbers. Poor guy! Or it could just be that he seems to like an inverted curve during the AM cycle. LOL!

We have been stuck in a rut. Every day I keep thinking we will turn a corner, but it was not today.... There is always tomorrow! :)

I've never got Hercs looking as good as Cargo, but like him he was much better at some point and now I am struggling to get him down.... I guess we just need to put the goold old patience pants on.
Are you considering moving back to TR now that you are back home?
 
Aww, poor Herc! He sure is a bouncy boy! How is he feeling generally? Mostly happy? I feel like maybe that's the best thing to be thankful for because sometimes this is a looooong ride. Cargo was diagnosed back in 2018 so his chances of remission are lower than most, but as long as I can keep his life as happy as possible, then it's worth it.

I travel with my job on mostly a 4-on-3-off schedule so I probably can't go back to TR, unfortunately. My employer was asking folks to take time off in order to save jobs during the pandemic and I took a total of 3 months off, non-consecutively, and March was supposed to be the one where I was going to get Cargo into remission. Then along came asthma and totally changed my plans! So for now, yes - lots of patience pants!

Best of luck to both of us that the Lantus stabilizes both our boys and that their pancreases start kicking in! :bighug::bighug:
 
Hi Melinda, I was looking at Cargo's SS and one thing jumps out at me! He takes a nice drop every evening from the yellows to those nice blues - now where does he go after that? If he continues to go down you're going to see those bounces the following morning. Is there any way to get another test an hour or two after the 3+?

I suspect he's continuing to slide down unless you're loading him up with carbs to prevent that from happening.
 
Thank you @Sue and Luci and @Bron and Sheba (GA) , I am home the next couple of nights so I will try to get a few extra tests in. I suspect as well that he drops further than we think at night. However, if this is the case, what should I do to stop it and hopefully get better AM cycles?
 
If you test and find he is dropping lower at night, you can feed the drop so it is more gradual and doesn’t drop so low or so fast, and that should help stop a bounce and the subsequent higher numbers.
You may have to test more than one night to catch a drop.... you should really always test further into the cycle if you find that the +2 or 3 is lower than the Preshot as that is telling you he is likely to drop further.
 
Ok, thanks Bron. He almost always is lower at the PM+3 than the PS so looks like I'll be using my alarm a lot! I have been feeding a LC snack at the PM+3, should I go with a HC instead?

Your alarm is your friend! ;):blackeye: It does allow you to get some sleep and I found it better than just staying up all night!
Wait and see what the BGs are later in the cycle but I wouldn’t feed anything but low carb unless he was under 50 or dropping very fast and low carb wasn’t slowing things down.
