How much YA is he getting?I love finding this stuff out after the fact. I'll move him back to 4.75 this evening.
Was the YA /dry the reason you opted for SLGS?Very little. He eats maybe a spoon or two a day. None of my cats seem to like it. He eats way more FF than dry.
Wait and see what he does with his numbers this morning, I wasn't suggesting you take him back up, ideally you want avoid flip flopping with the dose, as it makes it difficult to see what's really going on. He may just hold on to the reduction anyways.I love finding this stuff out after the fact. I'll move him back to 4.75 this evening.
If they don't really like it, is it feasible for you to just take it out of the picture altogether, then you could follow TR?Yes. I was told I have to follow SLGS because of the dry.
I don't know. I'm more confused now than I have been since I started all this.

I'm sorry if I have made you feel that way, it wasn't my intention.No. I just don't like being made to feel like I don't know what I'm doing. This is all hard enough to deal with on its own. Constructive advice (like telling me not to reduce back to back) is one thing. Making 99 suggestions of things I should or could do is another. I'm following the protocols, taking advice and trying not to be frustrated as best I can, but information overload isn't helpful to me. It just makes an already difficult disease more difficult.

You wouldn't believe how much I've beaten myself up about just that.Personally, I wish I had cut out dry kibble years ago .. then perhaps Rex wouldn't have had diabetes to start with. It's hard to say

He had a big drop from shot time to +4, but then levelled off. I suspect that was a bounce breaking. He's clearing them pretty fast. Unless he keeps dropping and you have a hard time bringing him up, I'd hold the dose for now. He'll let you know soon enough if he wants another reducie.
Jen, I totally understand how you feel - most of us do. You're already stressed because your baby is ill and then you are given all this advice - much of which doesn't make sense to you - and told to read a bunch of things that just confuse you further. Meanwhile, you aren't seeing the immediate improvement you hoped for, and pretty soon you just want to go hide in a closet. Been there, got the t-shirt. I can't tell you how many times I read and reread all the stickies, and I still felt confused and overwhelmed. They'd tell me it was my decision, but I really didn't feel like I knew what I was doing enough to make it. Just when you think you have a handle on things, because you're dealing with a cat, everything changes. ARGH!!
We aren't trying to confuse you or make you feel like you don't know what you are doing. Just ask questions and do your best - we will do our best to help.

I would try to be back in 2 hours, as the effects of the HC will wear off about then and he could drop again. Cats are sneaky that way.He went to 66 at +5. Gave some MC with tons of gravy and he's back to 104. (Means I can finally run errands.)
