Well, 2 years ago on this date, I joined the FDMB, so today's the beginning of our third year. Would have been nice if China had given me some better numbers, but we take what we get and have to deal with it. (just to get your attention China.....I'm considering another dosecrease!)

In some ways, it seems like yesterday and in others, it seems like we've been doing this dance forever. Diabetes is sure a 2 edged sword.....in some ways it's the most frustrating part of my life and Lord knows it effects any social life we might have had, how we deal with family and friends and a million other things that make this disease such a pain to live with. On the other hand, I really don't remember what I did with my time before diabetes...and although I thought I loved China as much as any person could love their cat, there's no denying the special relationship we have with our sugarcats. We worry all the more every time they sneeze or throw up....and our minds go to the worst possible things, but then there are the days when they're feeling great and doing all those special things they used to do before they got sick and your heart just soars.

So here's to you diabetes!! You're a major PITA, but because of you, I've learned so much more about my sweet China, developed such a close relationship with her, and have joined a wonderful community of people who all really care for each other and want only to help another kitty be as healthy as they can be.

One of my first posts...seems like forever ago!!

Chris - oh so true. I know our Zekey feels so much more loved because of the bond created as a result of the attention, handling and care he's received from us as we've worked to manage his FD. It never ceases to amaze me that their are still some people in this world, like the ones on this MB, who are so willing to give of themselves to help others. And of course, I mean you as well. Thank you.

Although you've not yet seen the numbers you hope for, your dedication to helping your sweet China has been rewarded with the improved QOL that you've given her. :bighug::bighug::bighug: to you both.

OK now China...what's up with you today anyway? Is this anyway to treat your mama??

If I didn't know better, I'd say her numbers today look like she's clearing a bounce.....but a bounce from what? Her numbers last night weren't crazy low, or drop quickly (of course why she went from 112 to 196 in 3 hours is a mystery to me too)

OK honey...No dosecrease tonight...You win this round

I keep telling myself this too. Even though I am only coming up to my 1 month... It seems like we've been doing this forever already. Sometimes I have to remind myself how wonderful that kitty can do backflips again (I didn't even know she was still capable!) and it IS worth it. I really admire your dedication to China and just hope I can be as dedicated a kitty mama as you :)

China looks great in the second picture. She's lucky to have you for her bean, someone who will do everything for her to make her healthier. It's so true, FD does create a special bond with our furbabies. I hate the disease, but I love how much closer it has made me to Furball.

Michael & I join this wonderful board 1 yr ago. Thanks to you, and the dedication of others on the MB, Michael is doing so much better! His #'s are much lower and his bounces seem to clear quickly.
You gave me encouragement and confidence, when I thought( due to my challenges) that I could no longer do this. AS a result, we are both thriving.
Thank you for everything!:bighug:

China, you look terrific in your "now" photo! Now, give your mamabean some nice numbers for mamabeans' day!

Chris, happy annifursary! Thanks for all the help you give.

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Happy Annifursary...yes, it is a 2 edged sword, but most of it truly is happy. We are blessed to have our sugarcats, because they teach us so very much. And L&LL is blessed to have both of you as part of our family. So celebrate today - just go easy on the cake :joyful:!!

It was fascinating to read your old post - saw some "old" friends we haven't heard from in a while. It really took me back. That vet you had was dreadful. I'm glad you bailed out on him (you did, didn't you?). Even then, when all was new to you, you seemed so calm and capable and like you were grasping it all. If I were to go back and read one of my old condos, I know I would sound hysterical and confused and not too bright. No wonder you do such a wonderful job helping others, here and on FB. We are all lucky you joined us two years ago.

China, Mama has ITF, so why don't you and Cinco amble on down to the lagoon tonight and go wading (hear that, Cinco? I said WADING)? Mama would love something in green for her Mother's Day gift from you.

Happy Mother's Day, Chris. I hope it's been a good one, for you and for your DM, too.

Well...China didn't hear the "wading" part and did a giant cliff dive instead!!

She's not eating as well as she usually does tonight, so I have to wonder if that's part of it....China...please feel better! Mother's day is no time to worry your mama!!

And There she goes!!!

(no cats were harmed in the fakery of this photo.....LOL)

Oh yeah Tricia.....after hearing his statement about "being in the 300's is good enough", we never went back.....to this day, he's never even called to check on her, so that pretty much tells you how much he cared about her health

She's now going to a vet that's a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners......it's over an hour away, but at least she seems to know what she's doing...mostly....I still have to do my fair share of nodding in agreement

Happy Annifursary! Nice of China to show you some green but now it's time to surf. I hope you and your Mom had a nice Mothrr's Day.

Looks like China's giving you her opinion on the dosecrease threat!! :D

Happy Annifursary!! It's always great to see cats doing so well with ongoing insulin dosing - it gives so much hope to all the people who join having been told by their vet that the longer term outlook isn't good. China proves those vets wrong every day!

We are all lucky you joined us two years ago.
I couldn't agree more - your help and calm advice has got me through many, many days where I didn't know what to do and wasn't even sure what questions to ask! :)

Absolutely, Chris. What you have done for China...excellent. Picture proof! But what you do for all of us...as they say, priceless.

Marilyn and Polly

Happy Anifursary!

It's indeed hard.... but you gain new friends, and more time with your sweet sugarbaby.
It is what it is and we are all so glad you are here with us....

Happy Annifursary Chris and China. I remember when you started and you commenting on how thin China was. And look how much better she is now, even "fluffy". :) Annifursaries are bitter sweet, but look how much you've learned about that PITA and how much healthier China (and probably the civies) are as a result.

Hey China - don't go partying too much tonight. :D

I can't stop laughing at the cliff diving photo. It's ridiculous, hilarious, and made my night! Partly because I imagine Jenks coming in from just out of frame immediately afterward.

Safe surfing you guys! Here's hoping that the third year's the charm!
