I’m a little late to today’s post, but RK is holding steady and that’s good enough for now.
Ketones were down to 1.9 at AM shot time but it’s a lot of work to keep them at bay. She’s nibbling on food at times, likely thanks to Mirtaz, but it’s inconsistent and still not enough, so the syringe has been our go-to. @Bron and Sheba (GA) I’ll ask the vet again about a feeding tube (thanks for the reminder) — it makes sense if we’re going that route to do it when we do the dental.
She’s been out more, sprawled out watching the world, rather than being reclusive in her enclosed hidey-hole bed. That seems like a positive too.
She’s still weak and wobbles when she walks and her elbows stick out. She looks gaunt but her eyes are maybe a bit brighter. I’d say things are still very tenuous but there’s hope. It really drives home the miracle of antibiotics—and yes, she will be on them non-stop until she’s strong enough for the vet to tackle her mouth. Hopefully soon. And hopefully that’s the only source of infection.
