Yesterday's Condo
Yesterday's condo includes her cytology results from the vet. The tests were inconclusive. It does not clearly appear to be malignant, but a biopsy would give us a more definitive answer. I'm wavering between a less invasive biopsy that just involves sedation to start or doing surgery to remove the entire mass, which could be overkill OR she could theoretically need to go under again for more surgery if they don't get it all.
I have seen that mammary cancer usually involves pretty aggressive treatment and many will recommend a full mastectomy right off the bat. While we don't know if this is actually cancer yet, I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on downsides to treating it as if it is right now? I feel like I am jumping the gun, but I want to do the right thing for her. The mass is on the larger side (2-3cm) and I don't want to regret not treating it aggressively out of the gate.
Still waiting to hear back from the vet who did the test or our regular vet with answers to my questions. The office is doing one week on, one week off, and both are off for the next week. Mine is usually great about responding to emails anyways, so hopefully she can get back to me soon.
Otherwise, she is happy and active and has a lot to say. Made her usual appearance on my team Zoom meeting this morning and everyone cheered. She joins us every morning, she must be wondering where her paycheck is at this point!
