I saw your question about dentals in Trixie's condo. Any inflammation or infection can raise BG numbers. Gingivitis, which occurs when tartar builds up, is a gum inflammation. Part of the difficulty is that even if Gus is reasonably cooperative at the vet's office, it's next to impossible for the vet to get a really good look at a cat's teeth unless the cat is anesthetized. My vet thought Gabby had mild tarter at an early cleaning and it was much worse once she got in and could really see what was going on.

Gus is doing great today!

In case you didn't see the response I wrote about dentals in Trixie's condo, this is what I said over there:

Trixie had dental problems...much larger than we originally thought. Upon initial examination, it appeared that several of her teeth had fallen out, and it was obvious that she needed a good cleaning. When the vet did the pre-dental x-rays (while she was out cold, the day of the procedure), she saw that all those teeth didn't really fall out; 6 of them had broken off at the crowns, and the roots were still there. During the procedure, the vet removed all those roots, as well as one other tooth - technically, 7 extractions in all. She had the dental on April 13, and finished up her clindamyacin last Saturday.

After this experience, I would definitely say that dentals are extremely important, as are those x-rays. Without the x-rays, we would have not know about the broken teeth. And, as far as just a plain cleaning goes, that's important, too...those gums can harbor a lot of bacteria.

Who knows...maybe having a dental done would help with Gus's dancing on the ceiling!

I bet you're tickled pink (or yellow!) with Gus' numbers today!! :lol: I want to see the PMPS and see if he keeps it up.

I've danced to this tune before. :roll: Setting my alarm for +2R. Gus is improving and we're getting close.
 
Only a gain of 10 points in 2 hours. The R held him fairly well. I won't do anything more tonight. AMPS will have to suffice. I-)
