Re:5/1- What Now?? Frodo's - Update HELP!!

Okay I am really confused as to what to do now. I bought a new meter, ReliOn Confirm, tested Frodo at 4:15pm his BG was 337, gave him 1u after he ate some, just tested again 10:53pm and it is 258. I did not see numbers like this on the TrueTest meter I was using as you can tell from the SS. I had 2 strips left on it this afternoon at one I didn't have enough blood because Frodo kept shaking his head, and the other one would not suck up the blood. I bought this new one because it used less blood thought I might have better luck and the strips cost less for as much as I am trying to test. Now I wonder which set of numbers are right and if I I have been thinking he was doing good but he really hasn't been.

Any advice on what do as I am at a loss. I don't know which numbers to believe. I am getting new strips for the TrueTest tomorrow and will run a diagnostic on both meters. A new battery has been placed in the TrueTest also.

HELP!!!! :?

5/2 - ReliOn AMPS was 313 this morning. Has anyone else had a issue like this if/ they changed types of meters?

I switched from the truetrack to the Relion and my numbers were really similar. I know you are out of stips for the truetrack so you can't tell what happened there. I have two options for you on the Relion: use the control fluid to run a test or test yourself or another nondiabetic cat in the household and see if that test is what you'd expect. Make sure the code that flashes on the relion matches the code on the bottle of tests strips too.

What you might be seeing though, is that you got some lower numbers at some point yesterday and are in a bounce....if you had a strip left you could have confirmed it, but it makes sense.

Catannc,

I have decided to pick up a bottle of strips for my TrueTest and a new bottle of control test drops to see what it is doing. I will test myself on both units to see what it does. Plus I will double check all the numbers on the ReliOn. I really like it since it uses such a smaller amount of blood, makes it so much easier on both of us.

I really hope it was a bounce and I can get him back down. I had this same issue with a monitor (Accu-Chek) my father had given me, he registered high (in the 400's) on it but his "normal" numbers on the TrueTest. I may test all three of them tonight on myself and see what numbers I get between them all. I just hope he hasn't been running in the 300-400 range all this time and I didn't know it because of the unit I have been using. Just seems like a mess.

Not sure what to do if I get a wide range of numbers.

I would do some testing and see what you get. Use your finger and test with both meters to see if there is a discrepancy. Most people think the ReliOn is pretty accurate. I know Donna and Denise had trouble with the Freestyle being way off. I think I remember about meters with "true" in the name not being so true.

You might post in Health and ask if anyone has had trouble with your true brand meter. Also, Nancey, once you get to the second page, time to start a new thread. :-D
