Hi Friends,

We're still struggling here with puking and finding foods that work. I admit that it's taking over my life and thoughts. I need to watch that or people are going to RUN when they see me.

Some of the new grain-free foods are medium carb (9-11) and I've not tested his bg's too much lately. This week they were 100 or below. Today I tested randomly in the middle of the day and was sad to see a 138. :o I just re-tested an hour and a half later and he was 106, so I feel better.

He's eating well, thank God. I've returned the raw food Nature's Variety chicken because it's too big a challenge for me right now. He doesn't like it at all and I have no energy to sneak it into food he'll eat and risk him not eating. For now he likes Merrick (so far), Wellness pouches, boiled turkey (in preparation for using Instict powder on it and cooking it less over time) Sophisticat sliced chicken. All of these foods are grain-free.

After reading some of the other posts on the board regarding human serious illness, I realize I need to CHILL and do other things with my life too that make me happy because life is very short. I am still haunted and traumatized by the quick and grizzly death of my cat Biscuit. Whenever Boomers does things he did I fear that I will lose Boomer too and I feel desperate. It's a very nice day here but I am stressed out and obsessing over my cat so it's hard to enjoy it.

Traci,

Don't stress out to much. Boomer's doing great. But your right life is to short. Take some time and do somethings for yourself as well.

I can relate to "people will start running when they see you". I find that there are more people that won't do for their animals what we do for them. I'm lucky to have a few people that don't think I'm nuts. But sometimes I have to be careful not to ramble.

I guess thats why I feel so connected to this site. We have topics of the day like poo and hairballs etc. And we enjoy talking about them.

Go outside some and take in this beautiful day. You deserve it.

I'm so sorry about your loss of Biscuit. It is terrible to lose one of our kitties. My thoughts are with you.

(((Traci))) A while ago, someone wrote that our furbabies will break our hearts sooner or later. Dealing with Kitty's illness has made me confront that, as you are confronting it, and it is hard. I hope you find something that gets you in touch with the happier part of life every day, but you can always talk to us about puke, and we won't run away! That's a good thing. :-D

traci, enjoy where you got boomer. You know he is enjoying it, and you deserve to enjoy it as well!

Re: 5/1 Boomer's second Caturday report

(((Traci))) I totally understand you being upset about Boomer's pukus & nervous about his bg # too..I obsess over my two too & I have no social life now because Im obsessed with making sure my girls are ok..its tough to find balance, I totally get where you are coming from...hang in there...what does the vet say?

Hi Traci! You poor thing!!! Sorry to hear about your stressing, you sound like me! I agree with what everyone here said! My social life went down the tubes too when Scrabble was dx! Hoping you can stress less and hoping Boomer continues to do well! Go do something fun!!!!! Hugs!!!!!!

Re: 5/1 Boomer's second Caturday report

Hi Guys! Thanks for being so kind. I could cry after reading these posts, but I can't because I just spent a ton of time getting ready. I am sleeping over my DBF's for the second time in six months! I need to turn this off for 24 hours and act "as if" Boomer IS going to be okay. I've left tons of food. I've given him his night meds and reglan (for puking) since I gave it to him last night and he didn't puke overnight or all day today. So no puke today. Tomorrow when I come in the door it will be scary.

Vet says to call her in a week. I saw her Monday. Try Spot's Stew. Give 2 bude's instead of 1.

He's got TONS of food there. I even made home made turkey meatballs for him which he DID eat.

Bye ladies. Thanks for everything.

Re: 5/1 Boomer's second Caturday report

Enjoy your weekend, Traci! Boomer needs you, which means that you have to take care of YOURSELF, as well, so that you can be there for him.

Re: 5/1 Boomer's second Caturday report

((Traci))
You're doing everything humanly possible for Boomer. Sometimes it just takes time to sort out all of the options. So far, it sounds like you've taken a big step -- the grain may be contributing to the problem. That's huge!

Use a feeder if that will give you the freedom to spend time with DBF. Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of Boomer. And yes, we spend a lot of time here talking about poop, and pee and pukus and everything else that goes in or comes out along with playing and purring. We talk about the things we love and care about.

Re: 5/1 Boomer's second Caturday report

Hi LL Friends-

Boomer seems to have done okay over night. He ate an okay amount from the smorgasbord I left for him. He did throw up while I was gone. Not a horrendous amount.

My DBF has a vet friend who works at a referral hospital. (Her dog just died of what his dog currently has.) Anyway, I sent her a description of what Boomer is going through and she suggested I go see a specialist-an internal medicine doctor that she brought her own dog to. I need to get my vet to refer me to this vet. I'll get my records from her - this ought to be interesting because she hand-writes everything. The vet friend thinks I'm doing a very good job, but that I need more help that I can't get from a "regular" vet. There may need to be more tests and the word biopsy was mentioned - that scares me. And everything done at a referral hospital is bug bucks. The good thing is that I tested his BG and his PM was 71.

The weirdest thing is going on in MA. We had a water main break and tons of towns can't drink our water, was dishes, give water to our pets unless it's boiled. THere's been a run on bottle water. I was able to get some in Dave's town because his town isn't afftected by this. I've heard this could go on for TWO weeks! It's SO weird.
