Things went interestingly with the "new" feeding schedule - the hope was with the 1:30am feeding (bit more than 1/2 can) that Robbie would hang in till 6:30am and that his numbers wouldn't be to terribly effected by that food as perhaps it would be catching the lowest part of his curve. Well, at 5:30am the MEOWY alarm went off big time - he was screaming his big, fluffy head off. Interestingly enough his sister was also looking for food in a demanding way. I got up and tried affection, tested him (335) but in the end I gave him literally a soup spoonful of FF with LOTS of water - like a shrimp, cod DRINK and fed Roxie and went back to bed but he still kept screaming - so I pulled him into bed with me and sure enough he curled up and went to sleep. At 6:30am when the AMPS alarm went off he was SOUND asleep, so happily sound asleep I didn't want to wake him but I did and checked him again -now he's 368 and he got his "real" breakfast - a full can of FF with a small amt of metimucil in it. He also got the closest to 5.00 shot that hes gotten so far.
I will be checking him at amps +2 shortly and we'll see how this goes.

Oh, I know he's trainable ... he's actually pretty smart for a big, dumb acting guy. The question is will mom survive the training. Sadly he's proven to be a better TRAINER than TRAINEE ...

Ha! I do the "get in bed" trick on the weekends since my husband gives their first meal at 6:30am before he goes to work M-F, and no one wants to be up that early on the weekend. It normally works pretty well, though this weekend I woke up and opened my eyes to find Kitten sitting on my sternum and staring straight down into my eyes. Of course, once they see any signs of life the second time around, it's all over.

I had a cat once when I was in my 20's and out late EVERY night who would sit on my stomach and stare at me. If I so much as CRACKED an eye open she'd start screaming but I could literally WALK to the bathroom and back to bed WITH MY EYES CLOSED and she'd follow me but not make a sound. It cracked me up - the minute she saw the whites of my eye she was shooting from the hip big time!

BTW - at noon today Robbie is a nice yellow 200 - and is getting his mid-day snack which will probably pop him back up but I think MAYBE we are on to something here - continuing to massage the food/insulin mixture.
