Good Morning LL!
Here's Karre's 2nd OTJ Day. Today, Day 3, has started out beautifully again. THANK YOU to everyone who was so sweet and supportive yesterday (and all the many, many days before). If all goes as we hope it will *antijinx*, we hope to throw you a seriously rocking party in appreciation! Of course we'd *literally* do that, too - it's just that pesky day and half of travelling time it'd take most of you to get down here to the tip of Africa
In the event that travelling across half the globe is some kind of deal-breaker (perish the thought!), and for Marje as promised, here are some sneak previews of what could await you if you did make the trip...
Taking a 4m-tall elephant bull for a hand-in-trunk stroll. Bring your BOS. This fellow was a lovely, gentle guy and as coincidence would have it, we're the same age, we were both 27 at the time. This photo was taken in Mpumalanga (way up North), where we went in 2009 to scout possible wedding locations. It was a great trip.
Apparently sharing a birthyear with me made him feel very affectionate! My first elephant kiss. Very loud and very ticklish!
This was taken on our honeymoon, the year after. I'm making friends with a brown house snake. They're very docile (and I love their Zulu name, "umzingandlu"). We do get quite a spectrum of snakes even here in Hout Bay (a suburb of Cape Town), including some of the ones best avoided, but generally, they really will do anything to stay out of your way. This one was very inquisitive and had these incredibly beautiful, shimmery golden eyes.
And of course especially on *this* message board, I can't leave out African FELINES! These cheetah cubs were only three months old, but they already purred like they'd swallowed little motors! Cheetahs are the only ones of the large cats that can purr. They're just spectacular. (We have had some very close encounters with leopards and lions too, but those photos are on an external hard drive which, for some reason, is not where I thought I stashed it. Will have to go on a S&R mission for it later.)
Back for a mid-cycle BG. I realize that according to the OTJ-Rules, it'd be fine to leave Karre be since his AMBG was green... What can I say. I'm a poking addict. I'm trying to wean myself off
Time for coffee. Have a great Caturday, everyone!
Jane
